Diana Richardson has been teaching Tantra and assisting couples transform their relationships for decades. She is a highly experienced teacher, facilitator and author in supporting couples to go beyond quick dopamine-hits of hot conventional sex to experience greater fulfilment, intimacy and love. What love-making experiences await beyond “climaxes“ of orgasm and ejaculation? How to transform mechanical repetition of sex to a timeless sexual experience? Containing the Life Force –  overcoming pre-mature ejaculation and enlivening The Penis as a Potent Electromagnetic Instrument. How to enhance sensitivity and desire and dissolve sexual reluctance – especially in the second half of life and post-menopause? ABOUT OUR GUEST: DIANA RICHARDSON Born in Zululand, South Africa, obtained a degree in Law from University of Natal (B.A.LLB). She is a teacher of Therapeutic Massage since 1978 (ITEC). In 1979 she became a disciple of the Indian mystic Osho. Her interest in meditation touch and healing initiated an exploration into Tantra, the union of sex and meditation. In 1993 she began teaching Tantra to couples. Writing as Diana Richardson, her first book was published in 1999. Since then she has written seven additional books, two of which are with Michael Richardson as co-author. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Contents  hide  1 The Imprint That Modern Society Makes On Us Regarding Sex and Sexuality 2 The Meaning Behind the Concept of Tantric Sex 3 Cold Sex as Opposed to Hot Sex 4 How The Energies Play Out During and After Sexual Climax 5 Moving Away from Habitual Ways of Love Making and Engaging in Tantric Sex 6 Transcending Performance Anxiety in Men 7 Practical Tips on How To First Approach Tantric Sex 8 Tantric Sex Tips Specifically for Same-Sex Partners 9 Menopause and Sexual Activity 10 Resources The Imprint That Modern Society Makes On Us Regarding Sex and Sexuality The goal of both participants being always to climax. The lack of proper awareness, education and dialogue surrounding love-making / sexual intercourse. Overstimulation, oversensation & a lack of understanding of how to unwind the sexual imprint that we carry with us. The Meaning Behind the Concept of Tantric Sex “Tantra denies nothing but transforms everything.”   “Tantra is the transformation of sex into love through awareness.” – Osho Tantric Sex primarily consists of bringing awareness to the sexual exchange. Being more present in the moment and in tune with what one is experiencing and receptive towards the experience of the other.  Cold Sex as Opposed to Hot Sex Cold sex is often linked to the relaxation of the body as a product of an increasing sense of awareness during sex, which in turn reduces body temperature and simultaneously allows for the welcoming of even more pleasure. Cold sex, in comparison to hot sex, allows for a longer duration of the sexual exchange which usually makes room for the woman to be able to actually reach climax. Hot sex, which is usually characterized by a high degree of rapid and overstimulating friction, tends to lead to male ejaculation but often leaves the woman dissatisfied. Hot sex usually works for a couple during its beginning stages, the so called “Honeymoon Stage”. But after a while of practicing this type of sex, the female body begins to be closed out because it is not being met on a deeper level. How The Energies Play Out During and After Sexual Climax Climax = discharge, particularly in terms of hormones. And with every peak/climax, a slump follows. The emotional disconnect that occurs after the climax happens. Short term fulfillment (regular sex) vs. Long term fulfillment (tantric sex). When the sexual exchange is approached, not necessarily seeking to achieve a climax, but to instead fully enjoy & be present during the experience itself, the energy that remains between the participants after sex is very different. Moving Away from Habitual Ways of Love Making and Engaging in Tantric Sex The shift needs to be gradual because you’re turning over something deeply imprinted within your psyche. It is sometimes hard to stop having sex in the way we are accustomed to. Awareness plays a key role in this. It is important to be able to discern what is happening when it is happening and take appropriate action. How to approach tantric sex with a partner that is not really interested or keen to explore a different way to engage in sex. Transcending Performance Anxiety in Men Shifting the perspective so as to not give as much importance to whether or not your partner climaxes or if you’re able to keep a full erection during the whole time. There are ways in which you can keep engaging in intercourse with a relaxed penis if an erection is not happening. For men, relaxing the body when about to climax helps a lot to last longer: anus, buttocks, shoulders, and jaw especially. Practical Tips on How To First Approach Tantric Sex It is most important to understand that tantric sex is not a technique per se. It’s keystone is Awareness, which is not a technique, but something that is available to anyone who engages in some type of sexual activity. Being present and connecting with the Self and the Other. Open your eyes. Instead of looking out, drawing the energy outwardly, just relax your eyes and let things come to you. It’s not about staring out and being critical or overanalyzing what you see (thus drawing energy in an outward direction), but allowing for that which your eyes perceive to ground you in the present moment and for your awareness to expand. Ancient Tantric sutra: “When the energy of the eyes is inverted, it falls back on the heart and opens it”. The “Inner Home” Use a part of your body as an anchor to which you can direct your awareness when your mind is scattered. Take longer and slower breaths. Try to always breathe through the nose. Nose breathing increases oxygenation in the body, which energizes you. Nose breathing is linked to long-lasting erections in men. To

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Spotify Listen on All Other Platforms An experienced Vedic Astrologer like our guest Laura Plumb can clearly see the planetary influence that manifested a chain of pandemic events in 2020 and 2021, specific to each country. What is in store for 2022? Understanding the influence that planetary bodies have on us not only allows us to embrace and utilise our full potential and highest Self, but also guides us on what the future inevitably holds for us. Vedic Astrology, also known as Jyotish or “The Eye of the Veda”, is the science that allows us to perceive and interpret messages of the cosmos. Why is it that things unraveled in this or that way? What are the lessons that nature wanted us to learn? What is coming up in the horizon for us? For all of these are questions, Jyotish suggests answers, and in this episode, acclaimed Jyotishi and Ayurvedic practitioner Laura, gracefully breaks down the power of what is coming up. ABOUT OUR GUEST: LAURA PLUMB Laura Plumb is the Founder and Director of VedaWise, and lead faculty for the Ayurvedic Integrated Nutrition 200 hour Professional Training, author of the best-selling book Ayurveda Cooking For Beginners, creator/presenter of the online video course The Medicine In Your Kitchen: Introduction to Ayurvedic Cooking hosted by Spirituality & Health, host of the 53-part television show CleanseVeda, and the 12-part series called Divine Yoga. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Contents  hide  1 The Planetary Arrangements That We’ve Experienced On The Last Few Months of 2021 2 Sri Yukteswar, Paramahamsa Yogananda & The Wisdom of the Vedas 3 The Astrological Blessings of the Pandemic 4 Jyotish Forecast for 2022 5 Resources The Planetary Arrangements That We’ve Experienced On The Last Few Months of 2021 The lunar eclipse on the 26th of May 2021 in Scorpio & solar eclipse on the 10th of June in Taurus.   Mars and Ketu are in tight conjunction in the sign of Scorpio.  We started the Rahu-Ketu Antardasha and will be inside “the serpent” for a few months.  Sri Yukteswar, Paramahamsa Yogananda & The Wisdom of the Vedas
The lineage of Paramahamsa Yogananda, and a story from “Autobiography of a Yogi” The concept of “Truth” and our capacity to move towards it or away from it.  Jyotish as “The Eye of The Veda”.  The divine siddhis of the ancient Vedic rishis & how they cognized this all-embracing wisdom.    The Astrological Blessings of the Pandemic In December 2019 there was a major Solar Eclipse that also involved Mercury, Jupiter & Saturn. Jupiter has been for a long time trapped by the grip of Saturn, so both teacher planets were together in the sign of Capricorn until November 2021.  The lessons of Saturn usually come in the form of constriction, of letting go of certain things, of turning within. Saturn is the Yogi, the ascetic. He teaches the lessons of Shiva.  When COVID First came we had Rahu in Gemini and Khetu in Sagittarius.  We had an air Sun and an Air lunar node, causing a lot of vata.  The Khetu in a fire sign was causing a lot of fire (literally wildfires), flu, infection, anger and general chaos.  Rahu and Khetu moved around September 20th 2020 into Taurus and Scorpio respectively.  These shadow planets are exalted in these signs, so they stoped being as damaging as they were on the year prior.   Jyotish Forecast for 2022 In November 2021, Jupiter moved into the sign of Aquarius and it will stay there until April 13th. Jupiter becomes here much more hopeful, optimistic & expansive in terms of scientific & technological breakthroughs, cutting-edge science.  Jupiter in Aquarius fosters a great capacity for spiritual growth. There is great room for spiritual & humanitarian advancements.  After April 13th 2022, Jupiter moves into Pisces, its own ruling sign.  It brings the invitation for those who did not find a meditation practice yet, to embark on that journey. Since Pisces is a feminine sign, it’ll bring out the most feminine qualities of Jupiter. It’ll be more embodied, touching & heart-centered. Jupiter stands for wisdom, growth, expansion, connection, union amongst humans, hope, faith, and compassion. Pisces is very related to the medical sciences because it brings in the compassion to help others heal and restore wholeness.  In May 1st 2022, Saturn will leave Capricorn, after two and a half years there, and will move into Aquarius.  Saturn loves structure. Shanni will help lay the foundations to all of that which Jupiter in Aquarius helped envision.  This is a time for us to have a clear understanding of what we want to build or materialize in our lives. This time holds the promise of fulfillment of said plans if the proper intention is there.  Saturn when in Aquarius and Capricorn is empowered. And Saturn represents the people, the common folk. This placement of Saturn allows for the light to shine over the will of the people. It turns the tables and gives them the power to choose for themselves, where to live, how to live, what job to do, etc.  In March 2022, Rahu and Khetu are moving into Aires and Libra respectively.  This is very relevant, especially for those who have their lagna (ascendant/rising sign) or chandra (moon) in these signs.  During this time there might be some restlessness, some shadows may

The Super-Nectar Ayurvedic Beverage that is Beyond Divine & Simple to Make: Takra | Dylan Smith #075

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Spotify Listen on All Other Platforms There is a certain beverage in Ayurveda which supersedes “superfood status” and offers an impressive spectrum of therapeutic benefits. This simple beverage is even categorised with “divine status.” And the awesome part? This beverage is ridiculously simple to stir up. The beverage is called “Takra” in Ayurveda, which refers to buttermilk or “thin lassi.”  IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Table of Contents What is Takra? Takra is the liquid that is left over from churning the butter out of fermented or cultured cream or yogurt.  If cream is left out for a while the naturally occurring lactic acid-producing bacteria will lower the pH, making it more acidic, which then allows the fat/butter to separate. Butter-milk is of 3 types: From which fat is completely removed; – kapha, mandagni, low strength. From which half of the fat is removed; – good for pitta, moderate power of agni, and if the patient has moderate strength. From which fat is not at all removed. – vayu, strong agni, patient has enough strength. Takra’s Tri-Doshic Effect Thin lassi is known as one of the only foods that pacifies all doshic combinations (various body constitutions).  The Vedic Mythology of Takra / Thin Lassi The Story of Lord Indra, Ahalyā and Maharishi Gautama: Lord Indra impersonating the rishi to be able to lay with his wife, Ahalyā. The vile curse of Maharishi Gautama, and how the Ashwini brothers declared takra to be the cure for it. “Takram śakra Durlabham”| Lord Indra can’t even get Takra. Other Devatas missing out on Takra: Indra, impersonating Gautama, and Ahalyā Lassi is the antidote to the poison in Shiva’s throat (Nīla Kantha) Ganesh wouldn’t have a belly if he drank lassi (it would help him digest, lose weight and be less bloated). The Recipe for Thin Lassi Mix one tablespoon of yoghurt with a cup of water, mix it with a fork, and drink. The exact ideal ratio of yoghurt to water should be 1:14. Those looking to make the takra a bit more thick can do a ratio of 1:6 or even 1:4. Thick Lassi is great for those suffering from loose bowel motion/loose stools or diarrhoea. Yoghurt used: Homemade yoghurt – to learn how to make your own yoghurt check out the reel we posted on our Instagram page (@vitalveda).  Different ingredients to add: Dried mango + cumin seeds roasted in ghee + buttermilk – best drink. Milk and Lassi are always better to have with spices. Anything but sour or fruit. Cocoa or carob. Amla (Indian goose berry) or honey added to the yoghurt will counter the channel-blocking qualities in yoghurt. Amla pickle – wait a year till they turn black Rice + blended yoghurt + Amla pickle. Thin Lassi for Dairy Intolerant People Food intolerances are the product of an imbalanced digestive fire, also known as Agni 🔥. To decide that one is going to stop eating a certain type of food merely because it cannot be digested properly is not a solution to the root problem. The Agni needs to be enlivened in such a way that allows for the proper digestion of that food and then one can gradually re-introduce said food. To read more about the Ayurvedic view on how to overcome food intolerances click here. To learn more about how to use Ayurvedic principles to bring your Agni back to balance, check out our online course: “The Essence of Ayurvedic Nutrition”. Takra, or Thin Lassi, is actually an excellent way to reintroduce dairy once the Agni has been brought back to balance. You can prepare the lassi very thin and even add a pinch of salt. Another option is to make the lassi, let the yogurt simmer to the bottom of the glass, and then drink only the water. How Often Should One Drink Takra / Lassi Lassi is described as Nitya Ahara | Nitya Sevaniya Ahara Dravya Lassi is one of the foods that can be had every day.  Some Vaidyas even say it is mandatory to be had daily. Contra-indications: Perhaps not for those with aggravated kapha, suffering of sinus congestion, or with strong dairy intolerance. When to Drink it: Especially during the summer, avoid during dinner, with lunch or as a snack.  The Difference Between Yoghurt and Thin Lassi Atyanda (more) Abhishyandi (blocking). One can eat it until 16-20 years old, past that point it is not advised. Amla (Indian goose berry) or honey added to the yoghurt will counter the channel-blocking qualities in yoghurt. Amla pickle – wait a year till they turn black Rice + blended yoghurt + Amla pickle. Benefits of Takra / Thin Lassi “Those who daily take takra do get sick not have diseases, and any disease cured from takra will not return. Have no doubt that what Amrita is the Nectar of the Devata, so Takra is the Nectar to Humans.” ~ BhavaPrakash Nigantu “Pharmacy in a glass” ~ Vaidya JR Raju. Eyes: Good for itchy eyes, sore eyes, tired eyes; even for those suffering from degenerative eye diseases. Skin: Good for eczema, psoriasis, general inflammation, dermatitis, acne and several other skin diseases. It brings a moist glow to the skin. Pitta Shamaka: Very hydrating & cooling. Protects against heat strokes, hot flashes & other heat-related ailments. Digestion: Lactic acid bacteria: Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) help ‘pre-digest’ your food and also add the bacteria’s digestive metabolites to the food. Pre-digestion makes the foods digestion much easier and brings far more nutrients into the body. And the bacteria metabolites, which is basically bacteria poop has incredible health benefits since it includes enzymes, antibodies, vitamins, exopolysaccharides, and more! Detoxifies the GIT. Alkaline drink. Increases absorption of nutrients. Good post surgery / pancakarma / rehabilitating gut Adoption of this procedure will promote and maintain his energy, maintain the kāyāgni and promote his strength, plumpness and complexion. Helps regulate optimal weight. To loose weight – drink takra To put on weight – add sugar, rose water, cardamom and make it sweet. Spoon off the foamy stuff (part that clogs peoples body, like the foam of ghee). Leave the foam in for weak/debilitated or emaciated people. Buttermilk cleanses the srotas as a result of which rasa reaches appropriately.  More benefits: Hair health – good for thinning hair, greying of

Approaching life with a more mature and self-aware perspective. Knowing what our purpose is, what serves that purpose and what doesn’t; and acting accordingly. Having more time to be fully immersed and devoted to one’s own sadhana, dinacharya and ritucharya. The True Purpose of Ayurveda Allowing not only for the physiology to be in optimum condition, but to also achieve a still & fulfilled state of mind that empowers one to engage with life wholeheartedly. Ancient Techniques That Refine Our Capacity to Live Life to The Fullest Using pranayama, mantra, asana, meditation, nasya and other techniques to cleanse & purify the mind of the different samskaras or impressions that have been imprinted on us during our life, especially our childhood. The Often Overlooked Benefits of Nasya Therapy & Panchakarma The Nasya technique was not only intended to heal the sinuses on a physiological level, but rather to cleanse the mind and heal it on a higher vibrational and spiritual level. Panchakarma cleanses the body of gross impurities and samskaras, so that it can have more clarity on the subtlest levels of perception – allowing for the letting go of patterns of deep-rooted emotional behaviour. The Science Behind Pranayama The relationship between oxygen assimilation and carbon dioxide levels. Why it is essential for us to practice intermittent hypoxia. During the fall & winter there is a window for the dairy farmer to step in and take some of that milk to drink, make ghee, etc. Food Intolerances & The “Gluten Free” Concept It is not advised to stop eating gluten. Studies show that people who eat gluten-free have: Four times as much mercury in their blood as people who eat wheat. A less rich gut microbiome To learn more about the gut microbiome listen to “Gut Health for Mental Health + Microbiome Wisdom | Kriben Govender #032″ Fewer killer T-cells and natural immunity than people who eat wheat. The hard-to-digest foods (wheat, dairy, nuts, seeds, grains, legumes, nightshades, etc.) are irritants to the intestinal lining, and one of their many benefits is that they significantly stimulate gut immunity, which in turn represents 70% of your immune response. If intolerant to some type of food, there’s work to be done so that you can overcome the intolerance and allow your body to properly digest said food. To stop eating certain foods is never the solution; the underlying imbalance that prevents you from eating them is still going to be there. Ayurveda Is Not Indian, It’s Universal | Dylan Smith #073

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast AppListen on SpotifyListen on All Other Platforms Ayurveda is has been dubbed “Indian medicine” or “traditional Indian medicine. Ayurvedic medicine certainly has a pronounced presence throughout India and has so for the past millennia, but Ayurveda is not only Indian, it is universal. But why does Ayurveda seem to be so active in India? This is true and an interesting point. Although Ayurveda has been in the past and has the potential today to express itself fully in any country in the world, Ayurvedic wisdom and practices are well rooted and expressed throughout India. India and its culture exceptionally have and continue to uphold and nourish this precious knowledge, as well as act as a safe source for those who want to contact it. Even throughout various invasions where Moguls and British have targeted Vaidyas (Ayurvedic physicians) in an attempt to delete the healing wisdom, we can be thankful that the body of knowledge was safely hidden from those with dire intentions & passed down in sacred lineages of teachers and students. Indian culture and traditions have therefore assured the safekeeping and cultivation of this ancient science. In this podcast episode we will dive deep into why Ayurveda lasted and continues to flourish in India, compared to other countries. We also explore how at the primordial root and heart of Ayurveda we can find universal laws of nature that can be expressed through any country, culture, or tradition. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Ayurveda Appearing in Other Parts of the World Ayurveda was strongly utilised in Greek medicine and the time of Hippocrates. Buddhist and Jain religions utilised it. Tibet, Persia and Mongolia. Even through to modern science, where a few of Nobel Prizes in Medicine were awarded to modern scientists in the past 25 years for discoveries that are basically Ayurveda 101! Ayurvedic principles permeate throughout ancient Greek medicine and the time of Hippocrates – which follows a similar model of the biological humours. Indian culture became diversified and spread into different areas, particularly Southeast Asia and Indonesia. Ayurveda was adapted by different religions, like the Buddhist and Jain, who added their own insights to the system. The Buddhists also followed Ayurveda, except for its surgical portion. The great sage and siddha Nagarjuna (c. 100 CE), who is probably the most important Buddhist teacher after the Buddha was also an Ayurvedic doctor. He wrote a commentary on Sushruta Samhita and developed many Ayurvedic alchemical preparations used to the present day. Tibetan Ayurveda developed after Buddhism manifested in Tibet in the 8th C. Persian times of Ayurveda were a source of traditional Chinese medicine as well as corresponding with homeopathy. Caraka Samhita Spreading Across the World Caraka Samhita was so popular that it spread beyond religion, race and philosophical views:   Translated into Arabic at the beginning of 8th Century A.D. As “Sharaka Indianus,” Carakas name appears in the Latin translations of Avicena (significant physician, astronomer, thinker and writers of the Islamic Golden Age), Razes (genius physician from Iran) and Serapion. Translated from Sanskrit to Persian and from Persian into Arabic in (980 A.D.). Used by the Barmakids (an Iranian influential family who were originally hereditary Buddhist leaders and subsequently came to great political power in Baghdad. Alberuni’s (Iranian scholar and polymath– a person of wide knowledge) chief source of medicine was the Arabic edition of Caraka. Translated into Tibetan language and subsequently into Mongolian and other related languages. Why is Ayurveda so Strong in India? 1. The Cultural Alignment to Kala (Time) and Charyas (Routines): Dincarya RtuCharya Pakshacharya Jyotish Maintenance (through festivals and rituals). 2. Festivals and ritual 3. India is the land of the Ved.  4. The food and diet principles of Ayurveda are maintained in India (to some degree at least). “Ayu” without the Ved is being taught today in many Ayurveda degrees in Indian universities. It’s important to honor South Asia – as the Vedas are strong there: India, Burma, Nepal. Just Breath: Science of Breathing for Optimal Health | The Breathing Diabetic (Nick Heath) #072

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Spotify Listen on All Other Platforms Nick Heath, aka The Breathing Diabetic, is utilising simply breathing techniques to manage and improve his type 1 diabetes – a medical condition that requires 24/7, 365 days/year attention. But simply shifting your breathing mannerism has other health benefits beyond just healthy blood sugar levels. Nick is a breathing nerd. He’s hooked on breathing. And the beautiful thing is that he’s not an extremist, but rather shares very practical interventions and subtle adjustments to your way of living (breathing) that has the potential to significantly heal and prevent imbalance + and optimise overall health. We dispel the myths of oxygen is good and carbon dioxide (C02) is bad. We explore the Nobel prize winning panacea molecule that is freely available to you, how to optimise your exercise, sitting and walking practice + much more! Take a deep calm belly breath through the nose and get ready to dive deep into the realms of oxygen, breath and our fundamental life-force. ABOUT OUR GUEST: NICK HEATH Nick Heath Ph.D., a.k.a. The Breathing Diabetic, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 11. At age 30, he began practicing simple breathing exercises that helped improve his blood sugars, improve his sleep, and increase his energy levels, all of which helped him better manage his diabetes. Having a background in scientific research, Nick wanted to understand the inner workings of breath to not only be able to explain the reason behind the changes he was experiencing, but to exploit and push the boundaries of breath therapy.  This curiosity led him on a deep quest to understand the science behind breathing its implications on the human physiology. By means of the The Breathing Diabetic platform he generously shares and breaks down complex pieces of wisdom for all to understand and make use of. Nick’s formal education is in atmospheric science, and he is also a certified Oxygen Advantage instructor. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Contents  hide  1 Nick’s Early History with Type 1 Diabetes 2 Why Put In The Effort When There’s Insulin Out There? 3 The Relationship Between Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide In The Body 4 The Wim Hof Method 5 The Many Benefits of Nasal Breathing 6 Meditation & Breath 7 Mouth Taping 8 Treating Asthma With Breathwork 9 Treating Diabetes With Breathwork 10 Simple Breathwork Practices 11 Resources Nick’s Early History with Type 1 Diabetes He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 11 years old. At the age of 25 he started wondering what habits he could implement that would positively influence his capacity to regulate blood-sugar levels. Little by little he started changing his nutrition, and his energy levels and long-term averages of his blood sugars started to improve. After that he was intrigued by the lengths to which meditation, yoga and breathwork practices could allow him to attenuate and/or eradicate his diabetes. Up to this point he has managed to reduce his insulin injections in 40-45% while keeping stable blood-sugar levels.  Why Put In The Effort When There’s Insulin Out There? Diabetes is not merely a nuisance in terms of having to inject insulin, but it also often turns into a liability due to its proven relationship to various long term complications, and emotional/mood instability (since blood sugar tempers with your brain chemistry therefore severely affecting mood & emotional health). Over time, diabetes can damage the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves. According to the World Health Organization: Adults with diabetes have a two-to-three-fold increased risk of heart attacks and strokes. Diabetes is the cause of 2.6% of global blindness. Diabetes is among the leading causes of kidney failure. Being able to have a grip on your health and taking some control back from the disease is very empowering and allows for an increased wellbeing & peace of mind. The Relationship Between Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide In The Body Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the molecule that indicates to our body it is time to breathe. The inhaling of air is triggered by the body sensing high levels of carbon dioxide, not low levels of oxygen. Carbon dioxide loosens the bonds between the oxygen molecules and hemoglobin in red blood cells, which allows for the assimilation of those oxygen molecules into the cells of our tissues. In breathwork techniques such as pranayama (प्राणायाम), we are tough to reduce the volume of our breaths, which causes an increase in CO2 levels, which in turn allows more oxygen to enter the cells. Intermittent hypoxia This practice consists of a person or animal going through alternating periods of normoxia and hypoxia. Normoxia is defined as exposure to regular oxygen levels and hypoxia as any oxygen levels lower than those of normoxia This practice teaches your body how to withstand higher levels of CO2, which is going to allow you to breathe less air and more effortlessly in your everyday life. Although holding your breath for too long can lead to a lowering of oxygen saturation, when done in a controlled manner it can be very therapeutic. It can help with insulin sensitivity. It can help with immune function. The spleen contracts and triggers red-blood cell production to increase oxygenation, which in turn increases oxygen assimilation and energizes you. There is a type of breathwork in which people take light inhales with deep exhales and then hold their breath while walking or jogging. This increases carbon dioxide levels to extremes and gets their body in a very acidic state which induces a lot of stress in the body and mind. Many athletes practice this to increase their level of performance. The Wim Hof Method It basically consists of hyperventilating the body, which increases your pH to alkaline levels & severely reduces carbon dioxide concentration in the body. Since high carbon dioxide levels are the triggering stimuli for breath, lowering these in that manner allows for an extended period of time in which the body doesn’t feel the need to breathe. What happens then is that oxygen-blood saturation in the body plummets to about 50% due to a lack of carbon dioxide. The Many Benefits of Nasal Breathing Nasal breathing reduces your breathing volume naturally, so by teaching yourself to

The acārya is an honorific title given to the lineage holder of a particular tradition (sampradaya सम्प्रदाय).  Acharya Shunya is the first female lineage holder of her sampradaya. Ācārya Shunya’s Dality Routine (Dinacharya) Waking up in the bahma muhurta She does Sūryopāsanā सूर्योपासना: worship of the Sun (a.k.a. Sūrya) Later she does Sandhyavandanam संध्यावन्दनम् A compulsory set of 5 practices including, mudras, pranayama, chanting of mantras, envisioning, and performing tarpana. Then more pranayama and yoga asanas (postures). She then spends time with her family, and engages in daily duties such as the writing of books, meeting students & sometimes even recording her podcast. Acharya Shunya is originally from Ayodhya and shares some insights into the history of this city and what it was like to live there for her.  Diwali and The Divine Feats Narrated In The Ramayana Diwali is the anniversary of the victory of good over evil; of Rama and his army of vanaras over Ravana and his army of rakshasas. Diwali is the celebration of the day in which Rama returned to Ayodhya after the battle of Lanka (as told in the Ramayana). Rama represents dharma (fulfillment of one’s own most evolutionary duty in any given moment in time), kṣānti (tolerance and forgiveness) and the atma itself (our true soul & higher self). Just like Rama is banished into the wilderness, our atma is banished into this worldly realm, full of sickness, depravity and betrayal. Ravana is a rakshasa, a demon, and mainly represents ego. He has 10 heads which represent his 10 qualities & the qualities of all of those who don’t realize & attain their true higher self: Kama (lust) Krodha (anger) Lobha (greed) Moha (attachment) Madha (arrogance) Matsarya (jealousy) Swartha (selfishness) Anyaya (injustice) Durmati (evil intent) Ahamkara (ego) Sita represents buddhi (enlightened reasoning and capacity to think). When Sita crosses the Lakshmana rekha (the circle which represents dharma, that Lakshman drew around her so she would remain safe while he went to assist his brother), she is captured by Ravana. This teaches that our intellect should always remain fixed in dharma, and that when our buddhi or intellect steps out of dharma the lower-self or ego (Ravana) takes a hold of us. The bridge that was created between South India and Lanka was created when the vanaras wrote “Ram” in stones and threw them in the ocean. These stones floated and allowed them to pass. The metaphor here is that by chanting the name “Ram” over and over, you will find a bridge between any problem and its solution. Ayodhya represents the body, the jiva, or any living being. So the return of Rama to Ayodhya is the jiva or being, returning to alignment with the atma and dharma. That is the meaning behind Diwali.  Diwali is the return of ‘Being’ with ‘Joy’ to their home beyond all struggle, the Center of the Flow. The reunion between Sita and Rama also symbolises the dharmic merging of the Divine Masculine and the Divine Feminine. Rama’s victory in Lanka is the victory of our highest Self over our lower nature. Diwali also translates as ‘a row of lights’ and refers to the chakras aligned in the spine. It is a return to alignment with nature; where mind, body and spirit are in alignment. Ways to Celebrate Diwali & To Align With Our Higher Self Diwali is a five-day festival that starts with Dhanvantari Jayanti. You can chant the Dhanvantari bija mantra: “Om Dhanvantaraye Namaha” Since Dhanvantari emerged from the ‘ocean of milk’ holding the divine amrita within a pot, it is tradition in India to buy a pot and cook something in it, be it a healing soup or

Understanding Family Karma & Harmonising Complex Family Dynamics | Jonni Pollard #070

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify Karma  कर्म, a concept that is often misunderstood by most, commonly translated as “action that binds”, and it is basically any action that is determining our direction or pathway in life.  When it comes to those we call our family, our karma acts as the underlying universal intelligence that bound us to these people.  Understanding this concept, how to transcend and work through our already existing karma and how to avoid creating more of it, is a fundamental aspect of the path towards liberation or moksha, as called in the Vedic sciences.  In this episode we not only dive into the concept of karma, but also explore how it intertwines with our familial relationships and how one can work through one’s karma to reap the benefits of a frictionless life (kriya क्रिया). ABOUT OUR GUEST: JONNI POLLARD Jonni Pollard, program founder and head teacher of 1 Giant Mind, is a world-renowned meditation teacher who has studied how to unfold human potential for over 20 years under great masters in the East and West. His programs, including 1 Giant Mind’s Learn Meditation app, have taught more than 250,000 people how to meditate. Jonni is at the forefront of authenticity in the meditation teacher landscape, making practical translations of ancient teachings for a modern lifestyle. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Contents  hide  1 An Introduction to Karma 2 Karma and Dharma 3 An Introduction to Family Karma 4 Managing Difficult Family Relationships 5 Broken Families 6 The Current Global State of Affairs & Its Impact On Family Relationships and Friendships 7 Nature’s Divine Arrangement of a Global Pandemic 8 Relatives That Are In The Very End Stages Of Life 9 Karma & Reincarnation 10 Resources An Introduction to Karma The traditional definition of karma कर्म is “action that binds”. Any action that is determining our direction or pathway in life. Karma is the underlying universal intelligence that ensures everything stays on track moving in the direction of its final destination (liberation [ moksha ] or dissolution). Consciousness is like a river moving towards the ocean; and karma acts like the riverbanks that guide the water (consciousness). It is a non-punitive, definitive, strong boundary that nature provides for consciousness to evolve. It is only through swelling that a river manages to escape the limits of its banks. In the same way, when one achieves higher states of consciousness one is able to transcend karma and move past its limits. Karma and Dharma Karma is the force that drives dharma धर्मा into action. Dharma धर्म is an individual’s duty in any given time that leads to the evolution of the individual soul & the collective consciousness simultaneously. Our dharma becomes the healer of our karma and everyone else’s karma. An Introduction to Family Karma Family karma is the bond (or bondage) that ties us to souls that we have traveled through many incarnations with, to the point where we are bound not only spiritually but on a genetic level. It is the karma of families that is the most powerful, impactful and more challenging to resolve, and yet it is also the most liberating when we get to the root of the challenge it presents us. The various degrees of intensity family karma can take. For some it may be a strong force that can be either loving, fierce or both. For others it may be a very mild force that doesn’t seem relevant at all. The intensity of this karma may fluctuate during a lifetime/lifetimes. Managing Difficult Family Relationships When going through periods of intensity that present a real challenge to us, the key is to surrender to it and embrace everything that this period is and entials. Patience and compassion are fundamental. Understanding the role that every party plays within that relationship and that reciprocity is always meant to be honored. Setting healthy boundaries that create a sense of separateness that often allows others to have time and space to reflect on the degree to which the relationship is important to them or not, and whether they are willing to accept the terms by which you are willing to interact. Broken Families In some cases it seems like the most appropriate thing to do is to simply cut off family members from one’s life. That is not wrong in-and-of-itself. If you did decide to do internthis, ask the following questions: To what extent does this family member(s) consume your awareness on a day-to-day basis? How much time are you involuntarily having to invest in relationships that you have declared that you don’t want to be in or don’t want to have? Despite being absent or not participating in these relationships, if you are still consumed by them internally, then that means that the karma is still lively and it is therefore a relevant thing to be addressed. Jonni’s method to find resolve in these situations: Start by auditing yourself, your assumptions, your prejudices and the extent to which you are seeing these people in their limited conditional state, instead of seeing them in their true light: as divine souls on a journey of awakening. Judge the degree to which you are lacking compassion and insight into their condition, along with the extent to which perhaps you might be hypocritical in your judgments. Ponder the length to which you would make yourself available if they were to reciprocate in this internal reflection. Be honest with yourself and take responsibility for the role you are supposed to play in this relationship. Are you willing to put in that effort? If not then there’s work to be done on your end. Effectively make yourself available to the extent that this can be a shared experience. If you are willing to be open hearted and put in the effort to heal the relationship but the other cannot reciprocate then it’s ok to set boundaries. But don’t take your leave still bounded to your resentment, disdain, self-righteousness and/or feeling like a victim. Let go of all of that extra weight that serves no purpose. The Current Global State of Affairs & Its Impact On Family Relationships and Friendships Families are being torn apart by opposing world-views & lifestyle/health choices. What is happening on the planet right now is triggering the deepest primal wounds & fears of everybody. It’s paramount to allow ourselves to have our own opinion while

Why Sunglasses are NOT Healthy | Light: The Divine Healer | Matt Maruca #069

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify The Sun, divine sustainer of all life on earth, also known as Sürya in Sanskrit, can be one of our greatest allies when approached with reverence and understanding.  Having a clear comprehension of the relationship between the Sun and our own physiology is fundamental to make of this astrological body an empowering force within our lives. In this episode we break down the science & mysticism behind this astounding & ever-reliable force of nature.   ABOUT OUR GUEST: MATT MARUCA Matt Maruca founded Ra Optics to make the world’s finest blue light blocking glasses, and created The Light Diet, a diet that directly addresses the root of the modern chronic disease epidemic, mitochondrial dysfunction, after having suffered from poor health and chronic fatigue at a young age due to technology overuse and an indoor lifestyle. He is now 22 years old and travels the world, studying and teaching about the relevance of light in human health. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Contents  hide  1 The Three Main Causes of Disease In Ayurveda 2 Sunglasses And The Tamas Guna 3 Rising Above the Detrimental Effects of Wearing Sunglasses 4 The Healing Power of The Sun 5 Circadian Rhythms In The Body & Their Connection With The Sun 6 Hormones & Light 7 Resources The Three Main Causes of Disease In Ayurveda 1) Misuse of intellect (prajnaparadha प्रज्ञापराध): The term prajnaparadha is made up of two words: prajna translates as “knowledge” or “intellect”, while aparadha translates as “offence” or “transgression”. This means doing things without properly discriminating as to whether they are favorable or harmful for the body and/or the mind. Actions taken with prajnaparadha aggravate the three doshas and stimulate the tamas and rajas gunas allowing diseases to become established. 2) Misuse of senses (asatmendriyartha samyoga तेषां कोपे तु कारणम्): This term is composed of the words astmaya, which means “improper”, indriya which means “sense organs”, artha translating as “the objects of the senses” and samyoga meaning “to combine” or “to link”.  Asatmendriyartha samyoga is the improper contact of the senses with their objects, and results in an over stimulation or deficiency of sensory activity. Actions that perpetuate asatmendriyartha samyoga harm the mind-body and lead to an imbalance that prevents the healthy functioning of your organism. Being mindful of your 5 senses (pancha Indriya) is a deep-rooted ayurvedic practice that is fundamental for the balance and wellbeing of the body & mind. The five senses are: Sound (sabda)  Touch (sparsa)  Vision (rupa) Taste (rasa) Smell (gandha) 3) Seasonal variations (parinama परिणाम or kala काल): Parinama in Sanskrit means “change” or “transformation”, and kala means “time”. The external environment, be it the seasons or the weather can affect and unbalance the three doshas, triggering diseases in the body. Exposing the body to extreme weather conditions for which it is not prepared very often leads to some form of ailment within the physiology of the body. In a more general manner, this also means the passing of time itself and the effects this naturally has on the physical body & cellular decay. Sunglasses And The Tamas Guna When it comes to human-to-human connection, sunglasses are an obstacle that stands in between. Sunglasses bring darkness, which in Ayurveda is often linked to the tamas guna (meaning trapped-light and/or dullness). Rising Above the Detrimental Effects of Wearing Sunglasses Spiritual masters such as Sadhguru & Dr. Joe Dispenza being avid wearers of Sunglasses and how they can avoid any detriments by becoming true masters of their physiology. The Yogis who by attaining siddhis have managed to perform extraordinary feats such as living for several years without sleeping or drinking water or eating food. For more on siddhis listen to “Siddhis: Supernatural Yogic Capabilities | Eddie Stern #065″ The Healing Power of The Sun Ancient cultures all over the world revered the Sun as a mighty source of healing power. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks & Romans had a strong reverence for the sun. The Romans used to even have special rooms dedicated to the absorption of the healing powers of the sun, these were called solariums. Florence Nightingale, a famous English war-time nurse who is believed to be the founder of modern nursing, reported a finding in her practice: She had patients on two wards: one that was exposed to sunlight and the other was very poorly lit. Patients in the sun-lit ward healed much faster than those in the ward with no exposure to natural light. The recognition that all life on earth is governed by, and fully depends on the energies of the Sun. The etymology of the word “Divine” It comes from the Latin word divnus which in turn has an etymological meaning that comes from an early proto-indo-european language, according to linguistic scholars, is “Daylight Sky-God”. Therefore the idea of something being “divine” implies the acquisition of the properties of the sky, the heavens or that which is above us. The takeaway being that to be more divine or to be a higher level being, we should embrace the energy of the Sun (that which is above us), invite it & assimilate it into our lives. Circadian Rhythms In The Body & Their Connection With The Sun The light of the Sun, passing through our eyes is a key variable for proper health since it triggers our circadian rhythms/cycle. The term “circadian” comes from two Latin words: circa, meaning “around”, and diēm meaning “day”. The circadian cycle or circadian rhythm is the internal process that regulates the sleep-wake cycle which repeats itself every 24 hours. This is a very intricate & extremely important process that regulates the production of enzymes & hormones all around the body and determines the availability or scarcity of energy resources that one has every day. Studies show that the fission-fusion cycle in the mitochondria within our cells (which in turn regulate the energy resources those cells have) are controlled by the DRP1 protein which is also synchronized to the internal biological (circadian) clock.   Digestive enzymes & insulin production also being regulated by circadian rhythms. Ayurveda advises that one should have a light breakfast, medium-strong lunch & light dinner. Ideally 4 hours before going to bed one should not eat any food. Hormones & Light We have receptors in our eyes called the “Intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells” which have a specific pigment called melanopsin that absorbs certain light waves. These cells are connected to the hypothalamus which regulates all metabolic

The Rock Star Who Radiates Divine Playfulness, Bhakti Yoga & Life-Altering Truths | Raghunath Cappo #068

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Spotify Listen on All Other Platforms In this episode of the Vital Veda Podcast we have a very special guest, Raghunath (Ray) Cappo, who has a wonderful life-story & absolutely profound teachings to share. A hardcore punk rockstar turned celibate monk turned teacher of all things Vedic. Raghunath (Ray) Cappo achieved great fame & prominence within the punk-rock scene in the 80s, and yet decided to give it all up and wholeheartedly dive into a purely spiritual path. For 6 and a half years he became a celibate monk of the Hare Krishna Bhakti-Vedanta tradition and now dedicates himself to teaching & enlightening others with the powerful knowledge he attained during his wonderful lifetime. ABOUT OUR GUEST: RAGUNATH CAPPO By the late 1980’s, Ray Cappo’s punk rock band had tens of thousands of fans. Ray was a trendsetter in the centre of hardcore culture. Then Ray discovered Bhakti Yoga, became a monk, and became “Raghunath.” Interestingly after that, he started another punk rock band called “Shelter”, which became even more successful. All members of the Shelter band were Yogi monks who would tour all over America & the world, singing to large crowds about clean living, self-mastery, vegetarianism and God through hardcore punk music. Now he’s the opposite of a monk and punk rocker. Raghunath is a devotee to the Vedas and Bhatki Yogi who is magnificently relevant at integrating vedic wisdom with the modern world and sharing it in the most playful way. He is a yoga teacher, spiritual storyteller and he is Born to Give. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Table of Contents Shifting from Rajas and Tamas to Sattva The self realization that allows for the letting-go of toxic habits. The power behind realizing this truth for one’s self (pratyakṣa) as opposed to it being “preached” to us. The Punk Rock Days Being very attracted to the counterculture but not so much to the lifestyle of drugs & alcohol that is often linked to it. Becoming a vegetarian early in life & taking an interest in Ayurveda, but resources were very scarce at the time. His First Hardcore Punk-Rock Band “Youth of Today”.  All of his fellow band members became interested in topics such as clean living, positive attitude, vegetarianism, animal rights & karma, so the mission of the band sort of became to rally people into these subjects. The lyrics were mostly about these topics. The cover of Youth of Today’s first studio album “Break Down the Walls”. This marked the beginning of the “straight edge” punk rock movement in the early 1980s. When the band started gaining popularity and the movement started to grow, Ragunath felt a rise of unhappiness & started to feel uncomfortable with his own ego. He then decided to quit the band and move into an ashram in India to live a monk life. Studying the Bhagavad Gita The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most famous and important Hindu texts. It is the conversation between Lord Krishna & his cousin Arjuna during the Mahabharata (the war at the dawn of the ages). In this conversation Arjuna explains that he doesn’t want to fight in this war anymore because it pains him to kill his own kin. He instead wants to become a renunciant & go live a spiritual life immersed in meditation.  Krishna answers that everyone has their own dharma (action in any given moment that leads to both the evolution of the individual & the collective consciousness), and that he cannot run away from this duty as a Kshatriya (warrior); doing so will only increase his suffering & that of the collective. Krishna riding the chariot and Arjuna shooting arrows in the Mahabharata We therefore have to use our god-given gifts, and put them to work towards dharma – towards a selfless action that helps the soul evolve & our communities to expand in consciousness, while not feeding the ego. Understanding the teachings of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita made Raghunath realize that he had to use his gifts as a musician & lyric writer and put them to work towards a higher goal that would allow him to enlighten others as well as his own spirit. It is then that he started his second band called “Shelter” along with fellow Hare Krishna punk rock musicians. The idea was to make music imbibed with Vedic teachings, but in a language that his audience could understand. Shelter established the Krishnacore punk rock subgenre & became even more famous & popular than “Youth of Today”. An Overview Of Bhakti Yoga Bhakti Yoga is the spiritual path where loving devotion is focused towards a personal deity.  It’s not so much a mechanical process but a mental disposition in which one deposits pure devotion & love on god. It implies the recognition of one’s true self as a pure spirited soul that is immersed in a material world, and understanding that the only way to achieve unity with the whole is by serving God with love and devotion. The process often linked to bhakti yoga consists of: japa, kirtan, puja, the dedication of all activities to the divine no matter how mundane or extraordinary they are, and the capacity to see divinity in absolutely every living entity. Kirtan कीर्तन Kirtan or Kīrtana is the devotional chanting of hymns, mantras and the praise of deities; when done by a collective together it is called sankirtan & when taken to the streets it is called Nagarsan kirtan or Harinam. Chanting the holy names of God (kirtan & japa) is one of the five potent items of bhakti yoga according to the Caitanya-caritāmṛta of Caitanya Mahāprabhu. The other 4 being: Association with devotees Hearing the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Residing at a holy place Worshiping the Deity with faith and veneration It is said that even if a person who knows absolutely nothing of Vedic wisdom experiences kirtan, there is a possibility they can feel what it’s like to be a paramahamsa (a god-realized person).  Ahimsa अहिंसा Ahimsa is the principle of non-violence. It is one of the five yamas (restraints for “right-living”) that Maharishi Patañjali elaborates on in the Yoga Sutras. By merely living on earth, one is enforcing some form

Brāhma Muhūrta: The Time of Totality & Potent Part of Each Day | Dylan Smith #067

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify The Brāhma Muhūrta, also known as the “time of totality” is the period of the day where creative intelligence is at its peak. Being able to understand and harness these energies is a fundamental aspect of the Ayurvedic daily routine (dinacharya). IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: An Introduction to The Brahmā Mūhurta Brāhma in Sanskrit means totality. It is the field of creative consciousness from which everything springs. Muhūrtha is a unit of time. Vedic tradition divides the day into 30 muhūthas of 48 minutes each. The brāhma muhūrta is the time of totality.  These are the names of the 30 muhurtas: Samudra-muhurta Brāhma-muhūrta Dyumadgadyuti-muhūrta Viṣṇu-muhūrta Jīva-muhūrta (also known as Amṛta-muhūrta) Aditi-muhūrta Kaṇḍa-muhūrta Agni-muhūrta Vidhātṛ-muhūrta Yama-muhūrta Aśvinī-muhūrta Puṣya-muhūrta Ahirbudhnya-muhūrta Ajapāda-muhūrta Girīśa-muhūrta 16. Bhaga-muhūrta, 17. Aryaman-muhūrta, 18. Varuṇa-muhūrta, 19. Vāhinī-muhūrta, 20. Naktanakarā-muhūrta, 21. Puruhūta-muhūrta, 22. Sutamukhī-muhūrta, 23. Viśvedevā-muhūrta, 24. Vidhi-muhūrta, 25. Varaha-muhurta, 26. Vasu-muhūrta, 27. Pitṝ-muhūrta, 28. Mitra-muhūrta, 29. Āhi-muhūrta, 30. Rudra-muhūrta The shloka (Vedic hymn) that introduces the aspect of Dinacharya in Ayurveda states the following: Brahmī Muhūrta Uttiṣtha Jīrṇajīrṇa Niru Payan ब्राह्मी मुहूर्त उत्तिष्ठ,जीर्णाजीर्ण निरु पहन Brahmī comes from the Sanskrit word brahmīk – which is the verb form of brahmā. Therefore meaning “that which has Brahma”. When placed before to the word mūhurta, it is saying “The time period that has the value of Brahma, or of creation”. Utishta means “get up” + Jīrṇa and Ajīrṇa mean “digestion and indigestion” + Nirupayan means “to judge”. What this shloka is saying is: wake up in the brāhma muhūrta (the time of totality) & judge your state of digestion or indigestion.    The Benefits of The Brahmā Muhūrta The brahma muhurta is the time period before sunrise. Generally speaking, it is said to go from 3:30 am – 5:30 am, but the cusp of the energies available during this period lies on the last 48 minutes before sunrise. One should ideally wake up every day during the brahma muhurta. The brahma muhurta is also considered in Ayurveda to be the part of the day with Vata dominance. Ayurveda divides the day into three parts pertaining to the three doshas. Vata (space & air elements) – from 3am to 6am. Kapha (earth & water elements) – from 6am to 10pm. Pitta (fire & water elements) – from 10pm to 3am. The Vata part of the day is where the air & space element become the most dominant; where subtle movement and actions start to occur. The stars are still shining and very much visible. It is the time period where dreams often occur. It is the time when movement starts to happen; some animals begin to wake up & activity is about to start back again. Curiously, it is also the time when people usually wake up to go to the toilet. According to Ayurveda, the most important aspect when it comes to sleep is when one sleeps, rather than how many hours one sleeps for. One should be asleep between 10pm & 3/4am. The pitta (fire + water) part of the day is where the various metabolic processes occur within the body (like digestion of food). Still being active and doing things (even if it is watching a movie or series on your phone in bed) during that time period takes away from our capacity to properly metabolise, which can, in turn, perpetuate various types of ailments in the body. To learn more about the optimal guide to sleep listen to Optimal Sleep: The Ultimate Guide | Dylan Smith #045 The vata time of the day is also characterized by the quality of gandhana which means “knowledge perception” & sometimes “manifestation”. During the Vata part one is able to perceive and absorb more knowledge and wisdom. According to Ayurveda, this is a great time to study & to do those activities from which we want to make the most out of. Another quality of this Vata time is gati which means “motion” or “movement”. Waking up during this time period allows one to feel more energized for the rest of the day, you carry on that gati aspect with you for the rest of the day. You feel more energised, creative & light-minded. On the contrary, if you sleep in and wake up during the Kapha period, that earth & sluggish element will be carried forth the rest of the day.   Another aspect of this gati quality is bowel motion, the elimination of waste (a.k.a. mala kriya), which should be carried out early in the morning – before any coffee or breakfast is ingested. Waking up during the brahma muhurta will promote the creation of sama dhatu (healthy tissues). Advice: if you wake up at any time after 3am, to go to the bathroom or whatever reason, start your day right then and there. Brush your teeth, scrape your tongue & do your dinacharya. Special circumstances: Cases like infants. the elderly, sick people & night workers are exceptions to these guidelines. If you had a celebration/event, went to sleep later than usual and in the morning feel the need for some extra hours of sleep: Still wake up during the brahma muhurta, do your dinacharya and once you are done with that, judge what your needs are. If needed, then go back to sleep. BUT, when going back to sleep, sleep for half of the time that you lost. i.e. if you went to sleep 3hs past your bedtime, you can ponder sleeping up to 1.5hs extra in the morning. “Waking up and not feeling the need to snooze and stay in bed is an indicator of proper health.” In Ayurveda there is a concept called sama dosha which consists of our capacity to both rapidly fall asleep at night & waking up energized and full of vitality. The concept of perfect health in Ayurveda is explained in one shloka of the Sushruta Samhita: “Sama dosha sama agnischa sama dhatu mala kriyaaha Prasanna atma indriya manaha swastha iti abhidheeyate” This means: one is in perfect health when the three doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha), the digestive fire (digestion, assimilation and metabolism) all the body tissues & components (dhatus), all the excretory functions (the physiological functions of urination and defecation) are in perfect order with a pleasantly disposed and contented mind, senses and spirit. Sanskrit & Vedic Chanting: Vibratory Sounds of Cosmic Intelligence | Samadhi Collective #066

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify Sanskrit संस्कृतम् is the sound nature makes when intending form, function or phenomena. Sanskrit reflects the vibratory patterns that govern the universe. It links the human brain and mind to the vibratory field of Cosmic Intelligence. Two human brains and minds that Sanskrit and Vedic chanting have absorbed into are this episodes guests: Jahnavī and Kamalā, two sisters who were raised in the foot hills of the Himalayas, spending their childhood learning from vedic sages and scholars in India. These young women are strongly influenced by vedic philosophy and culture, they are absolutely living the vedic life, and are sharing it with the world. Even beginners in Sanskrit can learn various mantras and terminology that will greatly expand our understanding of ourselves, other creatures and the entire universe. ABOUT OUR GUESTS: KAMALĀ & JAHNAVĪ (SAMADHI COLLECTIVE) Kamala is an art history graduate from the Courtauld Institute of Art (University of London), and holds an MPhil in Sanskrit and Indian philosophy from Oxford University. She has also studied Sanskrit in Karnataka, India and holds a diploma in Hindustani Classical Music. She is fluent in both Hindi and French. In Samādhi Collective, Kamala teaches all the Sanskrit and Indian philosophy sessions, as well as developing and writing our informative posts on topics pertaining to philosophy, yoga and more. Jahnavi is an artist, designer and portrait painter, who studied the tradition of Indian miniature painting in Rajasthan. She is also an experienced yoga instructor, trained in Karnataka, and has taught traditional Hatha yoga in both India and Europe, including at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh. Jahnavi also holds a diploma in Hindustani Classical music. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Growing Up All Around The World Being born in England, then moving with their family to the United States, later to Holland & by the time they were 10 & 12 years old they ended up moving to India for 6 years. Living in India as young kids and how both of them experienced it; & continue to experience it today. How Samadhi Collective Came To Be The many shared experiences & the shared understanding of Vedic philosophy & culture allowed them to create this community together. The idea of creating a platform where Hindu philosophy & wisdom are shared: mantras, Sanskrit, yoga-related content, music, art, and spiritual practices. Merging Western Education with Traditional Vedic Knowledge Kamalā studied art history at the University of London where she partly focused on traditional Indian art, and also did her thesis on ragamala paintings – paintings that are based on classical Indian musical modes (a.k.a. ragas). These paintings have many Sanskrit Devanagari elements which she felt compelled to study in-depth. She then did her MPhil at Oxford University, where she deepened her knowledge of Sanskrit & Indian Philosophy. All of this studying in England was from a strictly academic perspective, but given that she was also seeking a more traditional approach to these studies, she traveled during her vacations to Karnataka, south India, where she studied in a traditional school with a pundit. Learning Sanskrit Kamalā advises those who seek to learn Sanskrit to “not try”, instead let go of that idea of “trying” and it’ll gently assimilate itself into your mind. The traditional way in which the grammatical paradigms are learned in Sanskrit is by chanting. When doing that, you don’t need to “try to learn” Sanskrit, it is simply assimilated. Pronunciation is key: Sanskrit is a spoken language that has a very strong oral tradition. It wasn’t written down until maybe thousands of years after the sounds were first cognized by the ancient seers (rishis). Sanskrit is the sound, not the script. There are many different regional scripts (ways of writing Sanskrit). The different “Sanskrit scripts” (Devanagari being the most commonly used) are not really Sanskrit. They are vehicles that convey the sounds of Sanskrit but are not Sanskrit per se. The relationship between most bodies of knowledge that come from the Vedas (Yoga, Ayurveda, Jyotish, etc.) with Sanskrit. Learning Sanskrit allows one to establish a deeper and more profound understanding of these different fields. This is very important both for those who only practice and (especially) those who teach them. It is important to not only study Sanskrit in Devanagari but also to study IAST (International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration), which allows you to write Sanskrit words in roman script using diacritic. Vedic Chanting Chanting mantras inwardly vs. out loud There are certain lineages that instruct not to chant mantras out loud, but instead that mantras should be most often chanted inwardly. Kirtan and other group ceremonies being an exception to that rule. The Guru Diksha Mantra should not be chanted out loud, & the same goes for the Gayatri Mantra. There are certain other mantras that should only be recited by pundits, who have been properly trained from early childhood. Many other mantras can be chanted by anyone, no matter their background. Ragas (arrangements of notes) & when to listen to or sing them.  These ragas also serve for specific purposes; they can be used in Ayurveda as tools to enliven certain qualities and energies within our physiology. Favorite Places in India Rishikesh Karnataka in south India Bhubaneswar, in Odisha, where you can find the Konark Sun Temple, one of the most prominent Surya temples in India. Kasar Devi, near Almora, Uttrakhand. This place is known for a temple dedicated to the goddess Kasar Devi. This Devi temple is of special importance because the region around it has an enormous geomagnetic field that even NASA has studied. There are only two other places in the world that have a similar magnetic field: Machu Picchu (Peru) & Stonehenge (United Kingdom). The three places are part of the Van Allen Belt. Swami Vivekananda wrote in his diary in 1890 about his powerful meditations in this place. Jageshwar Dham Temple, also near Almora. Siddhis: Supernatural Yogic Capabilities | Eddie Stern #065

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify “Siddhis” are extraordinary human capabilities that yogis have been striving to attain for millennia. And many have been successful, because Siddhis are dormant non-local potentials that exist in every Consciousness state. A Siddha is one with perfected human capabilities. One who has sequenced the capabilities of Absolute Totality (“Brahman”) to become the perfect (most relevant) expression of “Dharma” (the most evolutionary thing you can be doing in any given moment). Join Eddie Stern and Ayurvedic practitioner Dylan Smith as they discuss the Yoga Sutras of Maharishi Patañjali, one of the most well-known yogic texts that described these mystical “siddhis”. ABOUT OUR GUEST: EDDIE STERN Eddie Stern is a Yoga teacher, author, and lecturer from New York City. He has been practicing Yoga since 1987, and ran his school in SoHo from 1993-2019. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s the school became a focal point for Ashtanga Yoga in New York with an eclectic mix of downtown artists and spiritual seekers practicing and meditating next to well-known personalities such as Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mike D, and Lou Reed, in what was also Manhattan’s first consecrated Ganesh Temple. Eddie has a passion for seeking out diversity in all aspects of his work and uses a multidisciplinary approach of combining technology, scientific research, and collaboration to help further understanding, education, and access to yoga. He continues to study philosophy, Sanskrit, ritual, science, and religion, as well as maintain a passion for the daily practice Yoga. Eddie learned Ashtanga yoga under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois, of Mysore, India. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Eddie’s Dinacharya (Daily Routine) Maharishi Patañjali as a Historical Figure Very little is known of him as a person. He is estimated to have lived around 300/400 C.E. He is credited with two major works: The Yoga Sütras – a text on Yoga theory and practice; one of the most important texts in Indian tradition and the foundation of classical yoga. Here he elaborates on the concept of siddhis and how to master them. The Mahābhāṣya – a text on Sanskrit grammar. He is believed to be an incarnation of Adi Sesha, the celestial snake on which Lord Vishnu reclines in the cosmic ocean. Ayurvedic sage Caraka is also said to be an incarnation of Adisesha. An Introduction to Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali are made of 4 chapters (padas) and 196 sutras.  Sütra (सूत्र) in Sanskrit means “string” or “thread”, or something that is woven or stitched together. A Sütra is a collection of few words that have been “stitched together” to convey in a very brief and precise manner a theorem or maxim that is incontrovertible in meaning. They very often need to be explained and “fleshed out” by some sort of commentary in order to be fully and properly assimilated. In the Yoga Sutras, Maharishi Patañjali explores, amongst many other things, the different mechanisms by which a Yogi can conquer siddhis. Siddhis: Divine Human Capabilities Tat Wale Baba, an Indian siddha – aged 85 when this photo was taken Siddhi (सिद्धि), means supreme fulfillment & accomplishment. Siddhis are divine human capabilities that can be enlivened by a Yogi/Yogini’s advancement through different sadhanas (spiritual exercises). By means of spiritual practice, the Yogi/Yogini eventually achieves a state where supra-normal abilities become at his/her disposal, it is then that they become a Siddha (one with perfected human capabilities). Samyama (संयम) meaning to tie together, integrate or bind; is the combined and simultaneous practice of Dhāraṇā (intention/concentration), Dhyāna (meditation) and Samādhi (union). By means of dhāraṇā, one puts intent and focus on one of the siddhis, by means of dhyāna one manifests it into a transcendent state of being, and finally, by achieving samādhi the siddhi is allowed to be integrated and unified with the relative field. Patañjali Yoga Sutra’s – Overview First Chapter – Samadhi Pada The first chapter of the Yoga Sutras explores the different types of samadhi, of which there are 8 types listed.   Second Chapter – Sadhana Pada In the second chapter, Patañjali discusses Kriya Yoga (क्रिया योग). “Kriya” loosely translates as “frictionless action” or “action which does not bind”. Kriya Yoga is the active aspect of Yoga. There are three components to Kriyayoga: tapas (asceticism), svadhyaya (recitation) & ishvara pranidhana (devotion to the lord). Kriya Yoga was revived in modern times by Mahavatar Babaji (also known as “The deathless Yogi”), his sishya (student) – Lahiri Mahasaya – and eventually brought to international awareness by Paramahamsa Yogananda in his widely renowned book “Autobiography of a Yogi”. Mahavatar Babaji (a.k.a. “The Deathless Yogi”) The 5 first limbs of ashtanga yoga are also discussed – the bahiranga sadhana (the external limbs). Yama – the five yamas are personal virtues one has towards the external (society & all living beings) Niyama – the five niyamas are observances that allow one to transcend the external Asana – postures that allow one to be still and comfortable (this is what is commonly known as Yoga in the west) Pranayama – regulation of breath or prana (life-force). Pratyahara – withdrawal of the senses that allows one to connect with the inner self. All of these are considered sadhanas or practices that we can do to achieve the highest states of consciousness Chapter Three – Vibhuti Pada Vibhuti means “perfection”. The last 3 limbs of ashtanga yoga are discussed here – the antaranga sadhana (the internal limbs). Dharana – concentration or awareness that is intentionally directed in one direction in an undisturbed manner – usually mantras are chanted and act as the active focus of that awareness. Just like when one places a cup on a table. It is the table that holds the cup up, the cup doesn’t hold itself. In the same manner the Yogi rests its awareness on the object so that the awareness can rest there, immovable. Dhyana – concentration or awareness that is directed towards one’s inner self; Commonly referred to as “meditation”. A mantra is also used, but it will eventually fade away until a state of transcendence is all that is left. Samadhi – cosmic consciousness is achieved, the idea of the meditator as an entity completely disappears & all that is left in consciousness is the object that is being meditated on (totality). The different levels of samadhi are discussed back in chapter 1. Samyama is the capacity to direct that tripartite process towards different objects of the world, and in doing so you learn something about the nature of those objects. Their inner nature is revealed to you,

The Sacred Wisdom & Beauty of Indigenous Australia | Noel Butler: Aboriginal Elder #064

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify Uncle Noel Butler is an indigenous elder of the Yuin Nation (South Coast New South Wales). As a child he spent the days in the bush, hiding from government authorities as they were taking children away from their parents. He was living off the land and the ocean, in absolute communion with the environment that surrounded him and his community. Uncle Noel delivers his knowledge on Aboriginal Culture generously with passion and urgency. Indigenous and Aboriginal culture holds immense value for everyone living on earth, even more so in these times where we find ourselves increasingly alienated from nature. This sacred wisdom is so relevant to the modern man – practical knowledge to live a richer life in greater health, individually and collectively. ABOUT OUR GUEST: UNCLE NOEL BUTLER Noel Butler is an Aboriginal (Budawang) Elder of the Yuin Nation, South Coast NSW, Australia.  He is a qualified teacher and mentor and has been working as a Cultural Educator for over 30 years. He has experienced firsthand Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal history, lifestyle, society and shares it all around the world. Conservation is his forte. He grew up in south coast NSW in a family of 8 who was living off the land in the bush. His knowledge has been passed down from his Elders to enable a sustainable lifestyle even in today’s modern world. Uncle Noel delivers his knowledge on Aboriginal Culture generously with passion and urgency. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: The Scarce Accessibility to Aboriginal Wisdom The deliberate restriction of access to the richness of aboriginal history and knowledge – something that is deeply rooted in our modern world. The subjugation that historically has existed (and continues to exist) of aboriginal and indigenous communities. Why it is important that we urgently share this unique and powerful wisdom. Life Expectancy for Indigenous Men (“The Gap”) Uncle Noel’s mind-blowing health & physique at 72 years of age. Life expectancy for native men is around 58 years – 17 years less than other males in Australia. Mental health is one of the biggest health concerns for Indigenous communities. Being sent to facilities to get treated, and therefore being removed from their home, community and rites implies a major alienation that ends up being very destructive.   Uncle Noel’s Family & Marriage Being and existing as a unit. They think of themselves only as a “we” or “us” and never “you and me”. Good communication and mutual respect are fundamental to live that type of harmonious life. Sharing moments on the daily, engaging in activities together to establish solid and sincere bonds. Communing with Nature as a Way of Life The understanding that everything has a right to live and that no species should dominate & control over another in a way that is so detrimental that it cannot recover and replenish itself. Considering your very environment as part of your family and you must therefore look after that/them. Appreciating the Elements – providers of life to all living beings: Father Sky Mother Earth Grandfather Sun Grandmother Moon It all coming down to being a compassionate and caring human being while also fostering a sharing capacity that allows for others to be included and participate in that state of being. A Mindset for Positivity Living every day and experiencing it as it comes, without excessive planning or expectations of specific outcomes. The belief that no negativity can be taken to bed with you. Everything has to finish at the end of the day. Uncle Noel’s childhood Being born by the sea and with his whole family living off the ocean. Being kicked off the land and later moving to the aboriginal reserve in Ulladulla. Having his brother taken away from Yuin Nation territory, hence becoming a part of the infamous “stolen generation”. The “Stolen Generation” refers to the aboriginal children that were being removed from their communities such as the Yuin Nation and placed in institutions that forced them to assimilate white culture (particularly during the time period between 1910 and 1970). Many of these children were treated with neglect within these institutions and were forced to cut ties with all of their ancestral background, not being allowed to refer to themselves by the name given to them by their parents and not being allowed to speak in their native language. Some of these children were adopted by white families and many were used for domestic work. This was a very brutal and trauma-inducing period for Native Communities in Australia. Read more about the Stolen Generation HERE. Noel and his fellow young relatives had to hide from welfare officers and other scouts who came looking for children where the indigenous communities settled. Learning to get their own food from the land they inhabited. This allowed for them to learn how to truly read nature – how to deeply understand it. What food to eat Where the food was When it was available How to hunt and correctly predict animal behavior How to communicate with birds by mimicking their different sounds/chirping The Power of Fire and the Mysticism That Surrounds It In Dhurga language (the language of the Yuin Nation) fire is called “yau yee”. The fire keeps the bad spirits away, it acts as a protection.  Noel’s family kept a fire burning constantly for many years while his father was bed-ridden due to suffering MS (Multiple Sclerosis). In Vedic tradition, the fire is considered a sentient Being itself, referred to as “agni devata” (“divine fire”). Agni Devata is not only a flaming hot element that is worshipped in the Vedas for its ability to transform and metabolise, but Agni Devata is also a highly revered celestial that has the ability to commune with celestial realms, a.k.a. “the cosmic mobile phone.” Fire is considered one of the most important Divine Beings in the Vedas. Birds Birds have an admirable capability to communicate between themselves, even amongst the different species. They can identify warning calls from other species and make their own, they all protect

Menstrual Wisdom & Womb Care with Ayurveda | Nidhi Pandya #063

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Spotify Listen on All Other Platforms Ancient women honoured the menstrual blood as the essential life generating material willed by Mother Moon to cleanse and purify their inherited Shakti energy so that new and fragrant life could blossom. Ancient wisdom for a healthy menstrual cycle and caring for the wombs of all women on earth: the seat of creative intelligence in all areas of life. ABOUT OUR GUEST: NIDHI PANDYA Nidhi Pandya is a New York based third generation Ayurvedic practitioner working globally. She was indoctrinated into Ayurveda at birth, as her grandfather was an Ayurvedic healer. In 2002, she founded a value development school called Vyaktitiva to counsel young adolescents and help them find purpose in whatever they do. Now, she is a practitioner, blogger, educator and a faculty at the Shakti School of Ayurveda. Wellness to Nidhi means aligning your body and mind to only consume what nourishes you on both levels. This can only happen when you truly understand your body and are able to tune in to your mind. After an in depth study of the scriptures and contemplation, Nidhi came to the conclusion that the ecosystem of the human body is warm and moist. Any deviation from this climate leads to imbalance. She therefore teaches people how to understand this climate; what may take it off balance, and how to bring it back to homeostasis. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Table of Contents Nidhi’s Daily Routine (Dinacharya) How Nidhi’s Relationship with Ayurveda Originated Being raised within a family of Ayurvedic Healers in Mumbai, India. Moving to New York and realizing the practice of Ayurveda is her true calling. Practicing and teaching all over the world. An Introduction To The Wonderful Power Behind Menstruation One of Dylan’s first lessons in his Ayurvedic journey was that one of the greatest blessings a woman has is her menstruation – the cleansing and purification of her Shakti (divine feminine energy). The Wisdom of the Menstrual Cycle A woman has the capacity to be a fertile ground – taking the potential that lies within the seed and with her Shakti creating something much bigger and powerful.  The many variables that play a role in the preservation of this fertile ground that is the female reproductive system. The female cycles affecting the doshas and the entirety of the female physiology. Why the menstrual cycle is fundamental for the preservation of female fertility. How a woman deals with her menstrual cycle determining how she will reach menopause later in life. The menstrual cycle and the preservation of fertility not only being linked to the capacity to birth children but also to the essential qualities of Shakti – birthing creativity and individual expression in the world. Menstrual Phases According to Ayurveda 1. When a woman has had her period then the body enters the Kapha phase – it starts to build the structure needed to initiate conception (thickening of the lining and building of the fluids) in case a sperm cell happens to be invited into the womb any time soon. 2. When ovulating the woman undergoes the Pitta phase – the phase of transformation that allows for the sperm cell to fuse with the female egg and transform that into a Zygote. During this phase temperatures increase inside the womb to the optimum levels for that transformation to take place. The enkindling of that reproductive agni (fire) also leads to an increased libido.   3. If fertilization doesn’t occur during the previous phase then the woman enters the Vata phase – the decline. Here the body realizes the structures it has created were not used and therefore destroys them in order to be able to create the optimum conditions again in the future. Ayurvedic Protocols for Menstruation It is of upmost importance during this phase to ground the vata: Very important to avoid exercising, since that wind element will be scattered throughout the body by excessive movement and the cleansing will not properly take place. Allow yourself to rest; not excessive napping, but slow down. Try not to use your mind as much – avoid studying, overthinking and stress since that will move the Prana (life force) upward instead of downward. Eat cooling and grounding foods like rice-based dishes, milk (can be warm due to its nourishing properties) and coconut-based dishes. Avoid hot foods like eggplant, tomatoes, and excessively spicy foods. Also excessively cold foods and raw foods since all of these will only increase that which you are already feeling. Mainly eat easy-to-digest foods since that will allow for the blood to concentrate in the pelvic floor and to enliven the cleansing process instead of being massively sent upwards to the digestive system in order to take care of a heavy meal. Generally, any foods that balance out the dry and hot qualities of this period will promote wellbeing. Sleeping the closer you possibly can to the earth – this is a grounding technique. Traditionally a grass bed has been used so that a degree of comfort is there, while still being as close to the ground as possible. By following these easy protocols many women that had lost their fertility (in terms of having regular periods) have successfully regained it. Copulation or engaging in any sexual activity is contraindicated during this period. Women in their menstrual period should try and avoid cooking for two main reasons: Rest should be primordial during this time. There is a special warmth and sliminess women experience during their period that needs to be preserved. When physically interacting with food, these properties are going to embed themselves into the food and affect its properties & qualities. Test this yourself: buy organic rice, handle it with your bare hands and leave it to rest. In a short period of time you’ll see some of the rice grains will hatch. When on their menstrual periods, women should avoid visiting the temple and the chanting of mantras. All mantras carry a specific energy – some are more heating and some are more cooling. This energy will surely affect the temperature within your body and that will alter the inner body chemistry and possibly trigger certain undesired consequences. Spiritual practices imply the upward movement of

Honouring Our Ancestors for Celestial Support in Life | Dr. Robert Svoboda #062

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Spotify Listen on All Other Platforms According to the Vedic tradition, ancestors have a sole role – to support their descendants (you!) so you can perform your most evolutionary (dharmic) action. But for them to give energy and attention from their realms (lohkas), they require energy and attention to flow back to them in a reciprocal manner.  When this flow of consciousness is reciprocated, their presence and support is enlivened. Furthermore, us on earth actually have a profound responsibility to assist our ancestors with their evolution. Robert Svododa and Dylan share ways to connect with your ancestors so that you can utilise their energy. These techniques and practices can promote your physical energy levels as well as increase the ability for cosmic intelligence to operate through you so that you radiate life for all to enjoy.  ABOUT OUR GUEST: DR ROBERT SVOBODA Dr. Robert Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. He is the author of over a dozen books and has served as Adjunct Faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM, and at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA.  IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Table of Contents Dr. Robert’s Daily Routine (Dinacharya) The Relevance Ancestry has had Historically Up until the 20th century, ancestry had always been of major importance all around the world, with some communities even considering their ancestors as deities. The hindu point of view regarding ancestry. Getting In Touch With Our Ancestry & Fulfilling Our Duty Towards Them Repaying the ancestral debt we have with them by helping them evolve past lingering desires they might have had before dropping their bodies, so they are not drawn back to said desires in future incarnations. The dangers of falling victim to the unfulfilled cravings of our ancestry when summoning them. The general manner by which this whole process should be approached. States of Being in the Afterlife Preta (someone who recently dropped his/her body) – they need to let go and advance. The personal Sadhana (spiritual exercise) of one’s lifetime playing a role in the afterlife.   Souls getting to Pitru Lokha (Pitru = forefather/foremother). Bhutas or Ghosts (Bhuta literally meaning past / was / has been) are souls who dropped their bodies and are still clinging to that previous existence – not letting go & trying to return. Rituals to Honor Our Ancestors Sūtaka period – (10/15 days after the body drops) is the time in which the ancestral world is the most open for us to get in touch with a Preta. Śhrāddha Ritual (Śhrāddha = faith – from the root Hrd, meaning heart). You want to put your heart into it. Let your ancestors know that you are keeping faith in them and supporting them in this journey. Pinda Dhana (Dhana = donate) You donate a Pinda – lump (ball / ladhus). – symbolic way to try and assist the individual soul to regain another body. Tarpana – you can also perform a ceremony yourself with various degrees of simplicity that will allow you to honor them and support their journey to Pitru Lokha. Pindas (or Laddhus) used for the Pinda Dhana ritual Ritual for Pitru Say “Tripitam” – meaning please be satisfied, satisfied. Then say “Swada”. Invoking the names of your ancestors up to 7 generations back, after the 8th generation less than 1% of your genetics is related to them so the genetic connection with them is not as strong. Explain that “Visnu will become your guide”. To finish say “Swastana Gatcha” – meaning please go to where your own personal place is. Dealing with Ancestor Karma according to Hindu tradition The relationship between mental health and family karma.   Mehandipur Temple – Hanuman temple in Rajasthan. Chottanikkara Temple – Devi temple in Kerala Native Religions The alienation of native cultures and their externally induced detachment from the natural world. American, Australian and Brasilian natives. Candomblé – religion of Brazil – has imported Gods and Goddesses from Nigeria. Caboclo – a figure that is respected and represents all the indigenous people of Brazil that have been brutalised, violated and suppressed. Preto-Velho – old black man represents the slaves that are brought over. Dr. Robert Doing Tarpana Every Year Doing the Ritual for those who might not be direct ancestors, but who’s sacrifice directly impacted our very own existence to this day. Dr. Robert’s & Dylan’s experience visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp. Other Practices to Honor Different Things Pañcayajña (पञ्चयज्ञ) – when eating, feeding a crow, dog, cow, the fire, and another human. Offering water to Trees (especially Ficus Religiosa a.k.a. Peepal tree, Ashvattha tree or Bodhi tree) given that they hold spirits within themselves and also embody Shanni Deva (Lord Saturn). The importance of honoring all existing & already deceased life forms.  Ficus Religiosa trees (a.k.a Bodhi Trees, a.k.a. Ashwattha Trees, a.k.a. Peepal Trees) About Robert’s Lineage and his Guru (Vimalananda) Born in Mumbai, lived as a Sādhu (renunciant) he did a ritual for the Mahavidya Tara and consequently got connected to the Astral world in a very particular way. Vimalananda had 3 Gurus.  Guru Maharaj (a.k.a Sri Rama Viswambharanadh (Jatala Sadhu)) was born around A.D. 1550 and he dropped his body on 05/06/1993 after living for 440 years or so. He was Vimalananda’s Guru, and was once found around A.D. 1800 by arquelogers in Samadhi (meditative absorption) inside the ruins of a temple in Puri. He held the certificate that testified to that. After healing a blind person he was forced to flee from Puri to Simhachalam – 20km to the west of Vishaka Patnam (biggest city between Chennai and Kolkata) in India’s east coast. Stayed in the Varaha Narasimha Temple Jatala Sadhu Ram Vishwambardas (a.k.a. Guru Maharajj) Guru Maharaj possessed a lot of unusual capabilities (Siddhis): he didn’t eat regular food but lived off chewing Tobacco leafs since he sustained that there was no point in eating because by doing so you wear down your teeth and digestive system. He instead suggested the best option was to eat something very poisonous and

These proteins may be what is causing the adverse health effects being reported by many of those who don’t receive the vx((een, but simply are around those who have. – What are spike proteins? – How are they being transmitted? – How can we detox and overcome side effects after receiving the vx((een? – What precautions should we take to prevent transmission? – How can we prevent receiving spike proteins and the adverse effects? – Why are so many women having hormonal and gynaecological imbalances after being around others who have had the vx((een? ABOUT OUR GUEST: STEPHANIE GURTZ Stephanie is an integrative nurse practitioner with over 12 years in the field of medicine. In 2009, Stephanie was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and eventually diagnosed with Crohn’s. She started down a path of biologics and steroids with deteriorating health. As she desperately searched for answers, she stumbled upon integrative medicine. She went all in, changed her mind, body and spirit and started treating herself holistically. Since 2014, Stephanie has been using her skills and experiences to help empower others to work towards their healthiest selves. I chose once again Stephanie to be on this podcast because of her extensive, non-biased independent research on the C19 vx((een. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Stephanie’s Daily Routine (Dinacharya) Stephanie’s medical background and why she turned to integrative/holistic medicine Becoming a certified nurse and going through all of the western medicine paradigm. Being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in her twenties and looking for alternatives to the life-time use of immunosuppressants. Going through a consciousness shift that affected her entire life and eventually healed her condition. Developing an integrative practice in which she provides a range of services that allows for people to detox their bodies. Spike proteins Spike proteins essentially are what our body manufactures after receiving the vx((een.  The members of the coronavirus family have these sharp bumps – or little crowns – that protrude, these are spike proteins. These proteins act as the key to the lock that is our immune system, they allow the virus to enter certain cells and start the self-replication that will lead to our bodies getting sick. Coronavirus (the red “crowns” are the Spike Proteins) The idea behind the vx((eens is that when these spike proteins are introduced into our bodies, they will make our bodies create synthetic proteins of the same nature. Therefore, if and when the wild exterior coronavirus enters our bodies, these synthetic spike proteins that our bodies have already developed will help fight back against the infection. Dr. Lee Makowski – from North Eastern University – published a hypothesis in the journal of viruses saying that the spike protein in the wild coronavirus might mimic proteins that, amongst other things, regulate blood vessels and the formation of blood clots. That spike proteins we are making via contact with the virus or vx((een are mimicking proteins that regulate other cellular structures in our body. It is for that reason that these proteins wreak havoc in our bodies and trigger certain responses that might not have been foreseeable by those that do not have a complete understanding of these spike proteins and the role they play in both the wild virus and vx((eens. The effects caused by the shedding of spike proteins Several cases of women bleeding during very extended periods of time (3-6 weeks), others bleed with heavy clotting & what they call “tissues”, others don’t bleed at all. Some menopausal women suddenly started bleeding again. Pregnancies that became severely compromised and ended in miscarriages – women’s hormonal system is very delicate. To get pregnant and stay pregnant is an enormously complex system. We know that that the spike protein antibody cross-reacts with Cinsiden 1 and 2 – proteins absolutely essential for the placenta, for fertilization and maintaining a pregnancy. Some men have been experiencing blood clots, scrotum & prostate swelling. Stephanie’s Crohn’s disease started to flare up after several years of not presenting any issues, just after attending a venue with a high concentration of vaccinated people.   Information from the inside One of the founders of the mRNA technology (which is used for Pfizer and Moderna vx((eens) – Luigy Warren- tweeted: “The vx((een shedding of the spike proteins is real. But it is occurring in small amounts that is mostly not harmful.”. Later twitter suspended his account saying it was alleged “fake news” – another example of censorship by Big Media in the pursuit of a political agenda. Warren then put out a statement saying: “The tweet you locked me out for is correct. I am the inventor of the technology of which Moderna was founded. Look it up. I think I know what I am talking about.” How can this shedding be transmitted and assimilated by others The hypothesis is that it can be airborne, saliva, urine, seminal fluid, feces and possibly even flatus transmitted. Given that proper scientific studies haven’t been performed yet, this is mostly speculation based on the lived experiences of those who come forward with stories related to this topic.   How should we protect ourselves (both the vaccinated and unvaccinated) What is fundamental is to strengthen your immune system. If you have had the vx((een, a bit of body cleansing/detox is also very recommended. Intermitent fasting: It is one of the most powerful interventions for overall health. It really helps detox the whole body. Intermittent fasting is very helpful in triggering autophagy, which is the body’s way of cleaning out damaged cells in order to regenerate newer, healthier ones. Ayurveda considers intermittent fasting to be “the supreme medicine”. If you want to take fasting seriously then consult a practitioner and make sure you are guided through it, it is a tremendously powerful and yet delicate process. It needs to be done the right way.  Not recommended for those who are excessively losing weight or suffering any sort of anemia. Pregnant women should also

Holistic Dentistry, Mouth as the Gateway to the Body, Mouth Breathing vs Nose Breathing & Sleep Apnea | Dr. Ron Ehrlich #060

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify Your mouth is the gateway to the rest of your body. Understand the jaw-dropping realization that your bite, mouth and jaw are highly influential in all your body ailments. The mouth is the portal to the body. Optimise that. ABOUT OUR GUEST: DR. RON EHRLICH Dr. Ron Ehrlich, is one of Australia’s leading holistic health advocates, educators, a podcaster and an author, with over 40 years of clinical experience. Dr Ron Ehrlich has developed a holistic approach to health and wellness, which includes a comprehensive model of how the various stresses of our modern world impacts our lives. Dr Ron is in clinical practice and continues to see patients at his group practice, the Sydney Holistic Dental Centre in Sydney CBD. In 1996, Dr. Ron gained his Fellowship in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (FACNEM). He is immediate-Past President of the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM). Dr Ron is also co-founder and board member of Nourishing Australia, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to informing, educating and inspiring people about the critical importance of healthy soils, nutrient-dense foods, and sustainable farming, bringing together principles of holistic healthcare and holistic farm management for the health of people, communities and ultimately, our planet. In 2019 he was awarded a Fellowship from the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine (FASLM). Dr Ron’s passion is to convert confusion to clarity and information to knowledge. To empowering individuals to fulfil their potential, take control of their health, build resilience and be the best you can be. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Dr. Ron’s morning routine (Dinacharya) Bodily cleanses: rinsing of nasal passages, tongue scraping and gargles 6-10 rounds of salute to the sun (Surya Namaskar) Rotational and extension movements Intensive workout for 10 minutes Dentistry as a profession How Dr. Ron became introduced to holistic dentistry. Dentistry being the job with the highest suicide rate of all, and also the worst job for the practitioner’s health (according to the US Department of Labor) – 950 jobs were measured in this annual report. The dangers of mercury and it still being used in patients’ mouths for tooth fillings Precautions a dentist can take on the job to reduce health risks. Why is attending to the health of your mouth important? Teeth are needed to chew food so as to make the nutrients more bioavailable to be absorbed and digested. New studies link a person’s ability to chew, to their cerebral cognitive function. The size and shape of your mouth (and teeth) determines that of your upper airway, therefore it predisposes you to have (or not) certain bodily dysfunctions such as: Mouth breathing instead of nasal breathing Sleep disordered breathing (most common disorders being snoring or having sleep apneas but there is over 80 of them) Other cardiac conditions due to oxygen deprivation. An unbalanced bite, teeth clenching and/or teeth grinding may cause chronic musculoskeletal pains (chronic headaches, neck aches, etc.) Gum health being connected to cardiovascular disease, strokes, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, low birth weight in children, some forms of cancer, erectile dysfunction and more. The mouth is the gateway to the rest of your body and therefore it is key in building health and resilience throughout the body. The two most common infections in the human body are in the mouth: gum disease and tooth decay. The five pillars of health Sleep, breathe, nurish, move and think. Further developed in Dr. Ron’s book (link available in “resources”). Mouth Microbiome There are approximately 700 different species of microbes in the mouth alone. The inside of the mouth is pink due to the proximity of many blood vessels to the surface of the skin. If the unhealthy microbiome enters your bloodstream then the toxins will be carried to the rest of the body perpetuating disease. Highly acidic foods and foods high in sugars and carbohydrates changing the mouth’s microbiome to be much more pathogenic (disease provoking). Chewing fennel and cardamom seeds reduces the acidic quality in the mouth. Suizz studies on the effect of the stone age diet on the human mouth. Snoring Why is it that snoring occurs? An ayurvedic solution to snoring is playing the didgeridoo, the conch shell or any long pipe for that matter, as they exercise the muscles around the pharynx and the back of the throat. Using a Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) to stop snoring and have better sleep quality (also serves as a solution for sleep apneas). Why is breathing through your nose fundamental? Mouth breathing vs. Nose breathing. 60% of the nitric oxide in the body is being produced through paranasal breathing. Snoring and sleep apneas and their relationship with Prana (life force). Mouth taping: its origins as a russian breathing technique called Buteyko, how to properly do it, doing a diagnostic test and some of its possible outcomes. Sleep Apnea according to Ayurveda Sangha Srota Dusti – Pranavaha srota and udakavasrota. Vitamin D deficiency can play a role in the manifestation of Sleep Apnea Cikitsa (treatment): Panchakarma – The five actions that profoundly eliminate toxins from the body and mind. For more info on this read the following article on how to shed toxins from your body by drinking hot water HERE Acidic drinks The ayurvedic approach to starting the day. Sodas and kombucha are very acidic and should be taken in moderation as they alter the pH of the mouth. How frequently should we visit the dentist? It is essential to get a comprehensive oral checkup to actually know how healthy your mouth currently is. “No pain, no problem” doesn’t apply to your mouth: 90% of oral health problems have no pain associated with them. If you have no fillings in your mouth, it is advised to go to the dentist once every 8 months or every year. If you have fillings, every 6 to 12 months. If you have a history of gum disease, every 4 to 6 months. Toothpaste

Cancer: From Diagnosis to Empowerment & Integrative Oncology | Dr. Paul Anderson Podcast #055

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Andriod Listen on Spotify Cancer is now flowing into every single person’s family. 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will get cancer in their life. But is the “C-word” sometimes convicted with unnecessary fear and over-exaggeration? We also need to become more empowered in navigating the overload (and lack) of information that is available on the cancer journey. We need to create an open discussion of all the possibilities that we can use to treat and prevent cancer. ABOUT OUR GUEST: DR. PAUL ANDERSON Paul Anderson, is an integrative oncologist and highly respected naturopathic physician practicing in Seattle and Arizona. He is a graduate of NCNM, and a full-time core faculty member at Bastyr University, teaching in the clinical science division. Dr. Anderson is a recognised educator and clinician in integrative and naturopathic medicine with a focus on complex infectious, chronic and oncologic illness. In addition to three decades clinical experience he also was head of the interventional arm of a US-NIH funded human research trial using IV Vitamin C and other therapies in cancer patients. He founded Advanced Medical Therapies in Seattle, Washington, a clinic focusing on the care of patients with cancer and chronic diseases. He is co-author of the Hay House book “Outside the Box Cancer Therapies” with Dr. Mark Stengler as well as a co-author with Jack Canfield in the anthology “Success Breakthroughs” and the author of his latest book, Cancer: The Journey from Diagnosis to Empowerment. He is a frequent CME speaker and writer and has extended his educational outreach through his website. Former positions include professor of Pharmacology and Clinical Medicine at Bastyr University and Chief of IV Services for Bastyr Oncology Research Center. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: NAVIGATING CANCER TESTS, SCREENING & DIAGNOSTIC METHODS Excess screening vs inadequate (and potentially damaging) screening Considering your family medical history and demographic vs. not being bound/influenced by your genetics. But “test anxiety” and fear may promote the development of the cancer you are caring for. Mammograms If you do regular mammograms, you have an increased risk of cancer. Due to the high amount of radiation. Mammograms say that they miss 20% or more pathology, especially if they have dense breasts. Technology – a low tech image. A really dull instrument. Poor sensitivity. Safer & Potentially More Effective Diagnostic Methods Screening Woman for Cancer MRI – this does not have ionising radiation. Pap Smear – good. Prostate Screening for Men The PSA (prostate specific antigen) marker in your blood is a protein is inadequate to measure prostate cancer. Genetics and Epigenetics: People are seriously confused about the true cause of cancer. They believe it is a genetic disease, but the genetic damage is a downstream side effect from the mitochondria disfunction which is a result of poor diet, nnEMF exposure etc. – those are the causes. Nature Medicine peer reviewed Journal – came out with an article in 2016 that 90% of cancers are lifestyle and environment – how many doctors ask their patients about their lifestyle and environment ? Paediatric cancers – babies born with cancer. NRCA gene mutation family. – 40% of women who have BRCA mutations never get cancer. Negative influences for the epigenome. Test Anxiety Especially in people who already have cancer. The Lagging Progress of Cancer Over one trillion dollars has been invested into cancer and they are getting very little progress. This is because the main stream research may be down the wrong pathway. Other Bio-Marker Chemical Tests That Can Help Indicate Cancer High sensitivity CRP (C-reactive protein) – non specific marker for inflammation. Tells something is brewing. On regular blood test. Doesn’t mean cancer. Range: ideally less than one. Haemoglobin A1C – 3 months average of blood sugar. – This can indicate if the environment promotes cancer. PHI – enzyme for hypoxia (low oxygen). Cancer thrives in that environment. Dealing With Standard Oncologists & Integrative Oncology Dealing with standard oncologists who don’t know about alternative therapies. Potential conflict. What if I want to integrate alternative therapies in addition to standard treatment? How to approach doctors who are closed minded? Poisonous influences. Utilise integrative oncologists. Chemotherapy and Radiation. Many of the drugs used today for chemotherapy were the same cytotoxic killing therapies used 50-70 years ago. These may be outdated. Maintenance chemotherapy – when is it done? Preventative chemotherapy The rebound effect of chemo and radiation. It is wise to good my immune system during chemotherapy? Most modern biological drugs are compatible with immune boosting botanicals. Circulating tumour cells and stem cells: The vast majority of the reasons why people are dying from cancer, on the pathological level, are due to these circulating stem cells. Surgery, chemo, radio will not remove these cells. They actually irritate them. These cells are the biggest cause of reoccurrence. These are also the eventual cause of death. It doesn’t seem that modern chemotherapy or radiation is going to be able to specifically target these stem cells anytime. Why Everybody Has Cancer Stem Cells If everyone have cancer cells… What determines whether one has their cancer stem cells switched on or off? Secondary Prevention (Preventing cancer from coming back) For current or past cancer patients. Considering the whole body and mind. When and Where Does Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Have Their Place? Surgery’s impact on circulating cancer stem cells Any invasive therapy – you till have to clean the system up around it and promote healing. What you can do to enhance the effect of the surgery and heal from it. Fasting in association with surgery. Biopsies can spread tumours. Assimilating Rich Yogic Traditions Relevant For Today | Eddie Stern #053

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Android Listen on Spotify “Yoga does not ask you to be more than you are, But yoga does ask you to be all that you are” ~ Eddie Stern Yoga is a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices originally developed in ancient India that nowadays has undergone a complete resurgence, particularly in the west. Many yogic practitioners define the benefits of the daily practice of Yoga as boundless, and still many, although interested, find it hard to include practices such as this in their daily lives. Some do not find the correct introductory stimulus and for others it is their surrounding environment that doesn’t propeciate the learning. In this day and age, there are several Yogic teachers trying to approach the average consumer with these traditional life-enhancing techniques and other watered-down versions of them. Today’s guest is one of the most popular and well-established people to do so in the United States… ABOUT OUR GUEST: EDDIE STERN Eddie Stern is a Yoga teacher, author, and lecturer from New York City. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: Eddie’s and Dylan’s morning routine (dinacharya). Eddie is reading 60 verses per day, every day, for 1 year of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (Bhāgavatam Purana) Swadaya The study of the chapters of self, self reflection. adi / ayana: To move firmly towards. Swa: Self. Swa – adyaya: Chapter Yoga allowing us to get in touch with the higher/deeper narrative of our being. Going beyond the ‘little stories’ we tell ourselves about what our life has been like or what has happened to us, until the only story left is our true being, pure existence. How to mentally approach the Puranas and hindi epics to take advantage of their teachings. Eddie’s journey into India and the Yogic traditions The journey of the previous generation’s most notorious spiritual seekers (e.g. Ram Dass and Radanath Swami) and what the context was like when they travelled to India. The alleged difference between first experiencing Yoga, India and the Vedic Traditions in the late 20th century vs. what a new seeker/student experiences today. The Great Cholesterol Myth | Dietary Fat Overview | Dr. Jonny Bowden Podcast #052

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Andriod Listen on Spotify Despite the science, the dogma remains pervasive. Thinking that cholesterol or fat causes heart diseases is dangerously falling into The Biggest myth in medical history. Armed with hundreds of scientific references, Dr Bowden shows why the medical establishment’s embarrassing, and outdated theory that fat and cholesterol causes heart disease is completely wrong. You’ll learn the real promoters of heart disease and what you can do about them This podcast is intended for anyone who is cautiously refraining from eating dietary fats because of belief or instructions from their doctor that fats causes heart disease and that cholesterol is bad. This podcast episode reveals the cold hard science and cuts through the crap to show you the definitive truth all about cholesterol, dietary fats and heart disease. Share this episode with your friend, relative, client or medical practitioner who is hesitating, even slightly, to consume dietary fats due to a dogmatic belief. ABOUT OUR GUEST: DR. JONNY BOWDEN Jonny Bowden, PHD, CNS, is a board-certified nutritionist, the author of 15 books including The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth, Living Low Carb, and the recently revised and expanded, The Great Cholesterol Myth. He is the creator of the best-selling internet weight loss program, Metabolic Factor and also appeared in the documentary, Fat Fiction, (narrated by Dr. Mark Hyman). His no-nonsense, myth-busting approach has made him a popular guest on television, and a sought after speaker all over the world. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: How Vitamin C was Discovered THE BIGGEST MYTH IN MEDICAL HISTORY Saturated Fat Causes Heart Disease = Non-Scientific The low-fat teaching is based on the medical establishment’s embarrassing, outdated theory that saturated fat causes heart disease. A landmark 2016 article in the Journal of the Americas Medical Association found that the true science was actually being suppressed by the food industry. People seem to be blind to the new science of nutrition and deaf to its leaders, like Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian, dean of Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition – the leading nutrition school in USA. He recently wrote in the Journal of the American Medical Association, “We really need sing it from the rooftops that the low-fat diet concept is dead, there are no health benefits to it.” The low-fat bandwagon has damaged public health. It was driven by an unscientific agenda advanced by the American Heart Association and the food industry, which sponsored the misleading food pyramid. The 40-year trend of promoting high-carbohydrate processed foods perfectly parallels the obesity epidemic in USA. Despite the science, the dogma remains pervasive. Despite science showing that natural fats pose no increased risk of heart disease, hospitals still hand every patient a pamphlet recommending the “low-fat diet” when they’re discharged from the cardiac surgery unit, just as they have been doing for nearly a half century. The evidence suggesting cholesterol causes heart disease is poor and non-existence. It was based on flawed science. While many studies have linked the intake of saturated fats to increased cholesterol, very few, if any, have actually linked saturated fats directly to heart disease. This dogma has literally killed hundreds of millions of people pre-maturely. Saturated fats, like those in butter, ghee, meat, cheese, eggs and coconut oil do not actually contribute to any increased danger for cardiovascular risk. Sugar Industry Conspiracy In a powerful exposè published in JAMA Internal Medicine, researches from the University of California dug up old sugar industry documents that revealed payments from the sugar industry to scientists to minimise the role sugar had in disease.(1) In 1967, the Sugar Research Foundation (known today as the Sugar Association) paid Harvard scientists the equivalent of $50,000 to publish a manipulated review of the research of sugar, fat and their connection to heart disease. The review was published in the prestigious New Englands Journal of Medicine, where studies cherry-picked by the sugar industry to downplay the role of sugar in heart disease…while blaming saturated fat. For over 5 decades the public was misled to fear cholesterol and embrace sugar as harmless empty calories. The low-fat, high-sugar, refined carb diets are now linked to both heart disease and obesity.(6) These flawed studies continue… Coca-Cola provided millions of dollars in funding to researches to play down the link between sugar and obesity and blamed lack of exercise.(7) The Actual Studies One meta-analysis by Harvard researcher Dr. Frank Hu, reviewed 21 studies that included more than 347,747 subjects which measured the associated between saturated fats and cardiovascular issues. The people who consumed the highest amount of saturated fat had the exact same incidence of any cardiovascular issues as those who consumed the least amount of saturated fat. The result: saturated fat was not a cardiovascular risk. And there are plenty more studies… A meta-analysis review, more than 150,000 people were evaluated for over 5 years. They found that risk of dying from any cause was significantly greater in the group with the lowest levels of cholesterol (below 160mg/dL). The group with borderline high levels had a significant decreased risk of dying from any cause, but it was the group with the highest cholesterol (above 240mg/dL) that had the most decreased risk of dying from any cause. Saturated Fat Was Taken Off the Nutrient Concern List, Yet the Dogma Remains Pervasive In 2016, cholesterol was officially taken off the nutrient concern list, but after almost 60 years of brainwashing, most westerns and doctors alike still consider cholesterol bad. Saturated fat warnings still are invading the FDA’s guidelines, even though they took it off the nutrient concern list. Precaution is still being advised by the American Heart Association. TESTING: CHOLESTEROL AND HEART HEALTH You can now ignore the cholesterol numbers on your standard blood test. HDLs can be good or bad. LDLs can be good or bad. Those numbers don’t matter, it is actually about the size of the cholesterol particle. If it is big and fluffy, it is safe and cannot do damage. (LDL Pattern A). If it is small, dense and hard it can penetrate the arterial wall and cause inflammation and

Energy, Fatigue & Auto-Immunity | Dr. Paul Anderson Podcast #051

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Andriod Listen on Spotify Your energy levels are foundational to any health condition or state. We’re not only talking physical energy levels and fatigue, but also cellular energy – having the energy to perform all the crucial biological functions. Optimal energy for efficient cellular repair, replacement and anti-aging effort through preventing disease. Auto-Immunity is on the rise as our intelligence becomes more “mistaken” and we loose self-recognition of our own bodies. Luckily, there’s a lot to be done to restore our bodily intelligence and harmony amongst our biological system. ABOUT OUR GUEST: DR. PAUL ANDERSON Paul Anderson, ND is a naturopathic physician practicing in Seattle, Wash., and Tempe, Ariz. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: ENERGY LEVELS & FATIGUE A morning practice to change your brain circuits to influence your energy levels for the day. Global energy of depression due to Covid-19 Similar to chronic ill patients and later stages of cancer patients. People who get energetically affected by what’s going on around them. Having energy “sucked out” of you Practitioners and doctors having energy “sucked out” of them and how to get yourself in a centred place so you can interact with a lot of strong energies without being affected by them. Energetic Recognition and Protecting Yourself Where Does Energy Come From: Energy is generated in the most metabolising cells: Heart – the heart has so many mitochondria so it puts out this huge energy signature. 5000 mitochondria per cell, even if you don’t work out a lot. Your heart never gets a break, it pumps till the body dies. You can measure your heart electricity from 12 feet away. Brain – you can measure the energy output of the brain. Muscles – Muscle cell have 200-500 mitochondria in each cell. If you work out a lot, maybe 400-500. Also, abdominal organs are busy all the time. What part of the cell makes energy – Mitchondria makes ATP (the energy molecule) then converts to energy. Hrdaya – The heart as the energy centre of the body. Pattern of Energy: Did your energy gradually reduce? or did it drop suddenly (such as cancer or auto-immunity)? Metabolic Health and Energy Levels Intermittent Fasting Mostly a mental game in the beginning. Powerful intervention for metabolic health. What Causes Low Energy and Overall Fatigue Short term causes: Acute illness. Medications. Depression. Long term (and acute) causes: The people and media you are associating with. Environment – mould, air quality, environmental toxins. Digestion and absorption – not absorbing the nutrients and energy from food. Balance of minerals / vitamins – taking a high concentration of one constituent may put another out of balance. Hormonal levels Thyroid levels Stress How to Keep Your Energy In Instead of Letting it Bleed Out Vedic Meditation 2x/day. Subtle energies Absorbing patients disease energetically. Being drained. Doctors, OTs, therapists, practitioners etc. Optometrists get eye diseases, cardiologists get heart diseases etc. AUTO-IMMUNITY: WHY DOES MY BODY WANT TO ATTACK ME? We loose self-recognition. Pragnyapradah – Mistake of intellect. Inflammation will invade other organs. Immune system enters a hyperactive state after being exposed to toxic influences over time and acquiring an accumulate affect. Types of Auto-Immune Conditions Hashimotos thyroiditis Rheumatoid arthritis Diabetes type 1 Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Lupus – inflammation at various aspects of the body. Tired. Joint pain. Multiple joints. High temperature. Ulcerations or sores in nose and mouth, sometimes. Sensitivity to sun. Inflammations in the blood – excess or deficient levels of various aspects of the blood. Rashes. Scleroderma A lot of people with low-thyroid have auto-immune (hashimotos) causing that, and don’t even know it. What Causes Auto-Immunity Orchestration of the immune system. External influences that settle somewhere in the body, and the immune system goes to do it’s job to clean up the cells, and inevitably creates the problem. Viruses invading certain areas. Environmental sources. Toxicity. Diet – diet is a significant way in for toxic material. Glycemic load. Medical interventions – Such as modern biological drugs used to treat cancer. Modern medical interventions and drugs confuse the immune system and don’t allow it to regenerate. Boosting Your Immune System during Auto-Immune conditions. Herbs: AnandSid Yog Swasakasantak Yog and more Treating Auto-Immune Conditions Smriti can play a role in restoring the intelligence. Bio-Films Wet areas rich in biological systems. They can get hijacked with pathogens, e.g. mould. Aspects of Immune System Skin – external layer of our immune system. Respiratory tract – internal mucous membrane immune system. Digestive tract – internal mucous membrane immune system. Surveillance – Surveillance molecules (e.g. Killer T Cells) that look for anything that does not have our marker on it. Recognition molecules that say “you are mine.” Specific immune system – Immune globulin, immune proteins, specially built to look for a specific cancer cell or virus etc. Humoral (anti-body) immunity – specific proteins against specific bad guys. RESOURCES Dr. Anderson’s website Self-Abhyanga Oil Massage – protect yourself from other people’s energy. To Get Vxcinated or Not? Become Informed About The C19 Vxcc!ne | Stephanie Grutz #050

Listen on iTunes / Apple Podcast App Listen on Andriod Listen on Spotify The Covid vaccine has arrived, whether we want it or not. We need stop making vaccines taboo to talk about and we need to learn about them and become properly informed. We need to use our judgment and intuition and while staying away from cognitive dissonance, make a choice based on our personal experiences and what we truely believe and feel is right. How do we make tough choices? We learn as much as we can and then make a choice. This un-biased podcast episode features health information from Ayurvedic health practitioner Dylan Smith as he interviews an integrative health practitioner Stephanie Grutz who has thoroughly researched the Covid-19 Vaxcine. Leave behind our views and preferences. Let’s drop the propaganda and seemingly “hippie dippie” views. Let’s explore both sides and more importantly, the science. ABOUT OUR GUEST: STEPHANIE GRUTZ Stephanie is an integrative nurse practitioner with over 12 years in the field of medicine. I chose Stephanie to be on this podcast because of her extensive, non-biased independent research on the C19 Vaxcine. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: The Role of Standard Vaccines The goal – to stimulate your own immune system to recognise a threat, before that threat actually shows up. By exposing your immune system to a piece of a virus, the immune system can spin up a memory response so when it’s exposed to the real thing in the future, it very quickly ramps up anti-bodies and T-cells and an immune response and potentially knocks that potential invader up. As opposed to when you are first exposed to the virus, it can take quite some time for the immune response to kick in. Neutralising anti-bodies. Ingredients in the C19 Vaxcine to Beware Of PEG (polyethylene glycol) M-Neon Green – a marine bioluminescent material. No studies are done on the safety of this technology. Can relate with auto-immune. Pfzier Vaxciner The CEO said this vaxcine was 95% effective and the next day sold his shares. Pfizers Criminal History Pfizer has been a “habitual offender”, persistently engaging in illegal and corrupt  marketing practices, bribing physicians and suppressing adverse trial results. Since 2002, the company and its subsidiaries have been assessed $3 billion in criminal convictions, civil penalties and jury awards. What is an mRNA Vaxine mRNA vaxcine include Pfizer and Moderna vaxine. mRNA vxcines are genetically engineered vaxcines so are associated with risk factors of auto-immune disease and auto-immune reactions. Spike proteins in the vxcine are similar to what is in our body, particularly similarly to what is in our placenta. This may cause auto-immune reaction. Pathogenic priming likely contributes to serious and critical illness and mortality in COVID-19 via autoimmunity Therapeutic indications and General recommendations for the C19 Vaxine: This is for individuals 16 years and older. The safety for children under 16 has not yet established. Special Warnings Anaphylaxis. If they have anaphylaxis the first dose, do not give. General recommendations: Should be postponed in individuals suffering from acute severe febrile illness. – (If you are currently sick). Individuals receiving anticoagulant therapy or those with bleeding disorder. (Standard) Immune-compromised people. 4.6 Fertility, pregnancy and lactation and the C19 Vaxcine Pregnancy There are no or limited amount of data from the use of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2. Animal reproductive toxicity studies have not been completed. Not recommended during pregnancy. Women of childbearing age, pregnancy should be excluded before vaccination. In addition, women of childbearing age should be advised to avoid pregnancy for at least 2 months after their second dose. Pregnancy is a time of protection. There is no time to inject a compound that specifically triggers inflammation, specifically immune inflammation in order to get an anti-body production. These vaccines are designed to up-regulate the immune system when pregnancy is an absolute time for immune suppression. This is why auto-immune conditions are suppressed during pregnancy.  This is why some women feel so good when pregnant, because their immune system is suppressed so you don’t abort a baby – because you will think it is a foreign body and potentially harm it. They give steroids to pregnancy women with high natural killer T cells (immune system) to regulate this. Vaccines dramatically increased the immune system. Pregnant women are getting the vaccine and some health care professionals are advising for it! The Moderna vaccine excluded pregnant and breast-feeding women from the vaccine trial. They don’t want women to try conceive a child within a month of the second injection. They also don’t want males in the study to impregnate women from the time of the first vaccination till a month after getting the second injection. Under 5.2. Exclusion Criteria in their reposer – modernatx.com Breast-Feeding and the C19 Vaxcine It is unknown where COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 is excreted in human milk. A risk to newborns/infants cannot be excluded. C19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 should not be used during breast-feeding. Fertility and the C19 Vaxcine It is unknown whether C19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 has an impact on fertility.
